Otto Porter is someone we could definitely use too, for sure. He's only 27 or 28, capable shooter.

The Nets are breaking basketball by signing Blake Griffin

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/nets-breaking-basketball-signing-blake-013300593.html

Some hyperbole for y'all in the title. Or not. I'm really curious for how much money of course. Does it leave them more for Drummond still than we could offer. They could also run him as bench center or visa versa depending on matchups while here he would be part time behind Gasol and Harrell.

Can he defend at all or create at all?

Porter is primarily a scorer/shooter and a rebounder. He's a low usage, jack of all trades kind of player, can defend multiple positions, would even improve defensively under Vogel instantly, he steals the ball well and is an average playmaker. He's a prototypical 3 & D wing player I'd say.

porter's a big wing who can hit open shots. it's a need, i'd say. not sure who he supplants in the lineup, though, so more insurance than anything.

i'm probably still more interested in insurance at backup center, though. just worry that if something happens to marc, we're in trouble.

Yeah, picking up Drummond would be a huge boost for us.

Drummond is the best option I’ve heard of by far IMO. We’re way too thin at the 5 IMO

I have a shtick here, it has “worked” every year of James Harden’s career, so I’m gonna stick with it. I reserve the right to take back sweeping hyperbolic statements I said, for the greater good of basketball and mankind as a whole, back at a later date.

Yes, this. We aren’t lacking with what Gasol brings, we are at risk of missing what he brings on a huge scale should he suffer injury that keeps him out of the playoffs.

I would be in shock if Drummond doesn't come to the Lakers. He has an open spot and AD can finally play PF without worrying about the Center position. Gasol and Drummond are good centers to put in with certain teams. If you need to spread the floor, Gasol plays, if you need more rebounding and immovable size, Drummond is the guy.

Only issue is, Nets have 3 all time scorers who can shoot from wherever.

Honestly OX, if we had that extra center depth/toughness with Drummond, I'd be totally fine with our Nets matchup. Would be fun to watch.

    Also...

Rob used to rep him. Why the change? Or if they ended on his terms?... But Rob knows the man and there's a work history there. Couldn't hurt our chances.

Drummond and a random shooter that doesn't suck please!

Pj Tucker wouldn't be bad. Korver is old but still would do a better job than Wes

we were all worried about the clippers last year and never actually played them. lots of things can happen on the road to lakers vs. nets. just focus on controlling what we can. we were patient on the buyout/trade market last year and nailed it. i believe we'll do well there again if opportunities arise. and i think we're again among the very short list of teams who should be favored to win it, which is all you can ask for.

if we've got our top 8 (lebron/AD/schroder/kuz/trez/gasol/kcp/eagle) healthy for the duration of the playoffs, we're right there. we have morris and matthews as solid vets to step in for specific situations, and one more center (yes, dwight would be the ideal here, but we're talking a total of 30-40 playoff minutes we need here...). don't forget THT as a wild card on the perimeter, too.

it's been a bad month, and the nets are going to be good, but we should be very good, too. as will the clips, philly, and maybe even utah (though i'm still a doubter).

Drummond is mainly empty stats . I wouldn't cut Marc or Trez minutes for him .

Porter would fit our current needs better , what type of defender is he ?

Agreed his nickname should be the s*** valet at this point in his career, and with his passing resemblance to Ashton Kutcher I have to drop this in here...

No no no. Bad Weezy, bad. Not even as a joke. If the Nets win a title, we'll all sulk a little bit, but we'll be over it in a week. A Clippers banner would hang forever.

A James Harden title scars basketball for a long time, possibly forever. That style of basketball can’t be allowed to have success. The universe, the basketball gods, however you want to look at it, has already helped in this regard having the Rockets miss 27 threes in a row. If that’s not a sign I don’t know what is. A Clippers banner I’d get over, it’s just one, a James Harden ring would devastate me.
