i don't see where batum was going to play, which is probably why he signed with the jv, tbh. also: i don't trust him injury-wise.

kuz, on paper, looks like batum. except 8 years younger and without a pretty concerning injury history. batum can do some things (handle and pass) kuz can't, but not so much that i'm crying over it.

as for morris: he signed for the minimum. benching him wouldn't be a good message for guys we hope to entice to do the same in the future. same reason you'll see wes get minutes all year even if he struggles and/or we want to see THT.

the lakers are the lakers because they build the brand. we're just getting it back, and selling everyone out for a very middling addition like batum could wreck the bigger picture.

I love the hindsight anger. Like anyone here thought during free agency, or the tiny window of it that Batum was available that he would be better than Morris or Kuz this season. [IMG] Man I can’t imagine searching for things to complain about and be miserable over when my team are the defending champs and sitting at 12-4, tied at worst for first in the West after tonight. But yeah, sure, we’re gonna lose this year because we didn’t sign Batum, our FO are a bunch of turds for not making every single move to perfection with the crystal ball they have.

Why does everything from you have to be negative? I guess we are who we are. It’s grating, it gets old.

hows it being negative? theres another roster spot available, nobody said mgmt messed up on batum or he is gona make or break the team, except you who had to take it to another lvl and considering Pg still has his away against us, it wouldn't have hurt to have another big wing to throw at him

Grass is always greener, yet we’re the defending champs.

Batum sucked before this season for several seasons, why would the defending champs gamble on him and get him over, say a championship contributor like Keef Morris?

exactly. i was interested in batum, as were others here, but only as a very last resort. the clips had an open spot in their rotation, so he went there. we got wes matthews instead. i'm not sure i'd trade matthews for batum, and i certainly wouldn't trade kuz for him. batum also can't play 4 or 5 against anyone, and kieff can.

i think it's a strange thing to get upset about. the clippers got ibaka, batum, and kennard, and we got trez, marc gasol, wes matthews, and schroder. they re-signed their morris for 16 per, we re-signed ours for the minimum.

we kicked their a** in the offseason, tbh. you can't get ALL the players.

had we signed batum and let kieff go to the clips for the minimum, people would be bellyaching about that.

wouldn't the open roster spot be used on a wing anyway?

I mean, he sucked because the Hornets gave up on him after he was injured and never got decent minutes. They completely went rebuilding mode with younger talent. Batum is still young enough to be a decent player on a contender so he's likely more encouraged now. Still think he was worth looking but I like the moves the Lakers made nonetheless. Would've been nice if he wasn't on the Clippers, honestly.

i mean, this is the quote that set it off. how should it have been interpreted, exactly?
