I don’t know if they can get a “ton” back for Kyrie.

He wasn’t traded to Brooklyn. He signed there. That was his decision. And he’s already losing interest and checking out on them. If he’s a malcontent in Brooklyn, that’s just who he is. A change of scenery isn’t going to help. He says things that likely cause legitimate headaches for front offices to have to deal with, and has the type of personality where he might randomly decide to retire on a whim. Even if you ignore all that and you happen to get a fully engaged Kyrie ... he has a history of injury issues and only played 20 games last season.

I think other teams know all this, and so not sure if there would be too many teams lining up to trade for Kyrie. For better or for worse, I expect the Nets to roll with Kyrie.

They are gambling that the pieces will fit chemistry wise and have so much offensive firepower that it offsets their lack of depth and defense.

And I think that is a losing gamble. They don’t really worry me at all.

    I'd also be trading Kyrie.

I just don't see the fit any longer, but especially if he's busy being "eccentric" or aloof.

who in their right mind would want kyrie? i doubt any team is willing to give up any meaningful assets to bring in a guy who is a guaranteed headcase

the nets are stuck with him

a small market team desperate for a star, but will they be willing to give up much? Def not (4) 1st round picks and pick swaps plus talent. No way.

Kyrie at this point must be a league wide know headcase. Who in there right mind would trade for him? You don’t know if he’s playing (injury or otherwise) or whether he might just do something crazy.

I think he'd be happy in NYC so maybe the Knicks for Randle and Burks or Robinson?

I don't think he'll ever be happy. He's been begging to be invited to the big table since he was a young pup in the league. Remember him challenging Kobe to 1 on 1, and Kobe dismissing him?

He's been looking for recognition for a really long time.

I hope not. Kyrie is/will be the reason, they will not win NBA Finals. With him gone and more depth, Nets would be very scary.

Plus, I am rooting for the Knicks to FINALLY become relevant again, that trade alone would devastate any chance od that for the forseeable future

I expect Houston to jell and make it to that 8th spot now that they got rid of that cancer. They have the talent IMO, they just need the distractions to be gone, and to refocus.

if wall, oladipo, and eric gordon stay on the floor (big ifs), they should be able to score a lot of points and compete for the playoffs. defense is going to be an issue, i think. but i'm not sure you pick them to be much better than sac or minny.

Tucker 100% fits into the MIA culture. Dipo still wants to end up in Miami too, so maybe there's something there down the road.

Fair enough. It was definitely addition by subtraction. Silas can actually focus on coaching now.

I don't think the West is locked but they're not getting in over us, Clipps, Jazz, Blazers, Suns, Mavs, or Nuggets. That leaves the Grizz and Pelicans they have to battle for the 8th. When Ja and Co get healthy, they will start winning again. And Stan has a great group of kids in NO, that I think are underperforming but will get there. It's early and there's still a lot of ball left to be played. We'll have to wait and see.

I also think the trade was mediocre to bad for Houston. So they got a broken Dipo and four 20something picks. That smells like a complete rebuild to me, except without any high picks except the ones they create for themselves by being bad. Only they don't have a bad squad. So, now maybe they continue to try to jettison Wall (hard to do) and Dipo (hard to do). They are in a really awkward place. The reason the AD trade was good for the Pels was them getting BI, who had the potential to develop into AD Lite. Houston got nothing close to that in the trade.

exactly. again, ben simmons may never be a superstar (probably not), but this is a very good, proven young player locked into a long-term deal. oladipo has been sporadically good and had a couple major injuries, and his deal is up soon, right?

guess houston is just hoping kyrie goes all the way off the edge and durant gets reinjured. it's a weird strategy.

Did anyone reputable actually report that the 76ers offered Simmons for Soften? Because if the 76ers were actually nuts enough to offer Simmons, I'd be shocked, and I'd be even more shocked that Houston would supposedly turn that down.

No one is giving up anything for Kyrie. I mean, what... you're going to trade valuable contributors for a guy who won't show up for games, is moody and aloof - and when he does show up, it's to burn the sage in the arena before the game. Let's do it just for fun: who on this Laker team would you trade for him?

Shroeder or Pope, plus Caruso and Wes. Would you do it?

No chance. It's not even that Kyrie is a significantly better player than all three of them. It's the fact that he's going to ruin any ounce of chemistry this team has. That to me means more than those fancy dribbles and highlights Kyrie has. If Kyrie was a Lakers, I would be stressed out being a Lakers fan. No thanks.

I saw a youtube video in my notifications on my phone saying "Kyrie traded to Lakers". Horrified, I clicked the video only to see that it was someone's bizarre suggestion that the Lakers trade for this headcase. Clickbait.

Regardless there's no way we trade for that freak show and ruin our chemistry. I wouldn't trade the ballboy for him.

The only way all 8 picks (4 out right and 4 swaps in rotating years) are bad is if those 3 stay the course. They're not loyal and all 3 have maybe 4 years left tops. Rockets are hoping to get the level of players that Boston got from their Nets deal. But after they bounce those picks will all be lotto picks, so they should be getting at the very least 3 lotto picks out of the deal.
