I was ecstatic the moment I heard about the AD contract, but it’s getting better and better every day

Rudy Gobert is the most overrated player in the NBA. That kind of contract should be for players who can lead a team as a superstar player. Gobert does not lead the team and just plays excellent post defense at a time where post players don't really exist the way they used to. I don't see him as a huge difference-maker for that price. He gets paid more than AD and does half of what AD does.

if you can be played off the court in a playoff series, you can't be a max guy.

:D Holy ****, someone in charge of the money is drunk in Utah. But I guess if you find decent players actually willing to stay there you do what you have to do.

the super max was a tool small market wanted to stay competitive against big market but its really just a tool for them to bury themselves, gobert/Mitchell/Bogdanovic already push them to luxury tax lvl and soon they habe to extend conley n ingles, they're fd

The Gobert signing is great. I no longer have to worry about our FO overpaying him. Not sure how likely that was in the first place, but now it's foreclosed and I don't have to give it a moment's thought (following this lone post).

Harden in Miami would be awesome. Jimmy would deck that fool 10 games into the season. Beard in NJ? Even better :D

right, and if the cap flattens for a while due to revenue/economic issues, these non-max guys on 40 million per deals are going to be just brutal for teams. guessing the next cba will have some forgiveness clause built in (just in time for the deng deal to finish punishing us!).

right? miami has to want to keep butler and adebayo. do you want anything else they've got? herro is a very sad centerpiece in a deal for a star of harden's magnitude. he and robinson are pretty overrated, imo.

same with brooklyn: levert and dinwiddie are both quality starters, but neither is a star and neither really has much room to grow into one in terms of age/experience/where the holes are in their games.

i suppose a billion picks with each? still, houston can't be happy with those returns.

Could it be more pathetic or transparent that now that LeBron has come west and gotten an actual teammate in AD that these guys want to team up in the East? Irving, Durant, and Harden? That’s really what it’s gonna take, huh? Sad.

I actually feel bad reading some comments from Jazz fans about the Gobert signing. A lot of them seem happy since they have resigned to the fact that they likely won’t ever win a championship with their core, but it’s still fun to cheer for an underdog playoff team.

Like I’m glad they’re content with their mediocrity, but I can not relate at all. Championships or bust.

Well, to be fair, they are not that mediocre... that's a good team. Just not a championship team.
