Golden State is about team and unity. Gutting your team to accommodate an a**hat like James Harden would dilute that.

It's just a thought I had. Wiggins/Wiseman/picks works technically. It adds another MVP to the core 3 like they did with KD and it's Klay insurance to extend Steph's prime. I hate, hate, hate the fit but I think this league is crazy enough where there's a slight possibility.

yeah, nobody was fooled by the "simmons isn't on the table" stuff. just like nobody's fooled that houston won't move him for less than an AD package.

Well, don't do it again. People eat while on here sometimes, we don't want them to yack all over their computers and phones. Think about them first.

Morey came out saying he isn't trading Simmons. Do I believe him? Absolutely yes I don't believe he meant to say the truth.

Houston actually has a very solid starting five if they keep it together, but sounds like they won't. Their bench is mostly no names though.

After trading Harden, I expect they can actually still make the playoffs if the new guys stay healthy. The big IF.

there's been a LOT of breathless talk about this guy--who's 2 years younger than anthony davis and has started a dozen nba games.

serious question: if this guy was as good as the bloggers and his teammates say, why would detroit even think about letting him walk at the MLE? and then sign mason plumlee to a similar contract? yes, yes, detroit isn't the smartest team in the league. but they're starved for a star, and they supposedly had one just sitting there? something doesn't compute.

finally, how often is it that player makes a quantum leap at age 25 after having been in and out of the league since they were 19? again, serious question--i don't know the answer, but i feel like you can count them on one hand, if that. the nba, as a whole, generally isn't that bad at evaluating talent over that stretch of time. do they miss in the draft? constantly. but most very good players (high quality starters/stars) are tabbed long before this stage.

it would be basically unprecedented for wood to be that kind of player. closest thing i can think of is hassan whiteside, who it turns out wasn't very good, just statted up on some bad teams. and wood might stat up in houston. capela did. but capela's not that good, again as evidenced by his time opting to not have a center and paying a 1st rounder along with him for the privilege.

Execpt for Lakers fans. Lakers fans want their non drafted, G League players to be stars after one good game. And if they aren't, they need to die in a pool of acid and then they blame Kurt Rambis and Linda for the problems.

I am kind of wondering if the Christian Wood ball-washing is a last ditch effort to maybe convince Harden that he needs to stay so they can team him up with "Anthony Davis 2.0"

Of course it leaves me wondering, why is Jerry West on the hook for paying this guy. Balmer owns the team, West works for Balmer and I assume the money transactions flow through Balmer as well.

West may have been authorized to make this deal and Balmer decided the guy was full of s*** and didn't want to pay him. I think he is suing West because he figures he has a better chance of being paid off because Balmer will be more effected by West being put in a bad situation than he would be if he was sued directly. Sue him directly and he will simply lawyer up and outlast the guy. But West does not have those deep pockets and I am sure this is a concerning situation for him.

    What gives?

i don't know. both the ringer and espn have had full features on wood in the past couple of months, and he's been talked up elsewhere since the end of last year when he put up stats as detroit circled the drain.

gordon's at least the second person to publicly compare him to AD. i mean, i guess if lonzo ball is jason kidd, maybe it works?

but it's a weird amount of hype given his resume. again, he'd have to be an improved player in ways we've basically never seen in order to justify all this.

it might be different if he were 20.

Sigh. Jerry West’s involvement in all this is definitely a subplot I’m not enjoying. In his defense, he wasn’t exactly wrong at the time and I think we all said as much, but he knew better and he still chose to be a Clipper and now it’s time to pay the Piper.
