yeah, that was fun while it lasted. i disagreed with that assessment (that we were a full tier below bucks and clippers), and it was proven false, but it made watching more enjoyable when i didn't expect a title (but thought there was a chance). i, like espn, would expect us to beat anyone--provided we're healthy.

If that moron in Boston wants to get to the Finals next year, he better package Jalen Brown, Kemba Walker and loads of draft picks and send them to Houston for a spot in the Finals. He is exactly who they need. And their chances of finally getting to the Finals go up really high.

I want the C Bags in the Finals. Getting 18 through them and burying Harden in the process would be the ultimate in moist!

This is the kind of guy who is going to struggle with life and put on like 40 pounds the second his career is over.

So you think money is what you need to be happy, huh? If a man is still feeling the need to fly to Vegas in between games just to party in his 30's, I promise you he's not going to know what to do with himself when he retires and no one cares about his ringless a** anymore.

i think we have varying definitions of the word "struggle"

I admit its not exactly usual (altho not unheard of - see Rodman) for an nba player to do these things, but i also think you are taking a lot of liberties and making assumptions about his off the court life when we really dont know the full story. He has a great relationship with his Mom. Thats not something that should be discounted.

And yes i understand the irony of using rodman as an example to say that hardens after nba life will be stable lol

Wait. Does he take his Mom to Vegas to party?

Lots of athletes struggle once their athletic career is over. Many players are actively working on preparing for what the next phase of life brings. Not Harden.

    he’s been catered to
He’s apparently not focused on anything post career
He just gained a LOT of weight in a very short off-season

I could see him putting on 80-100 lbs and struggling with depression, never shaving, etc. oh wait!

agree in spirit, but the people who care about who he is now care because he has cash and hangs out with rappers. i know at least one of those things will continue. if that's all you care about...

Watching Reign Man and The Glove on NBA TV.

Didn't know this... when Kemp got traded, originally they called him and told him he was being traded to the Lakers. Then they called him back and said they didn't want to face him 4x a year, then gave him 3 options of Detroit, Milwaukee, or Cleveland. At 28, when he was traded, he was still a top level PF. His first year in Cleveland he put up 18/9 in 97-98. You can speculate that if he was on a real team, playing for something then maybe he would've taken his weight, coke. and drinking issues more seriously. If he was still here when Phil came aboard, he would've straightened him out.

Anyway...I wonder what the trade package was

If that initial trade happened, would the Lakers have a chance to beat the 2x WCF champs Jazz and lockout champs Spurs during those years?
