If Houston doesn't get the player(s) back they want and call his bluff and tell him he has to play until they can get something they're happy with ...... maybe Boogie and Wall and any of the rest of the team that wants to ..... can throw Harden a blanket party in the locker room for sabotaging THEIR efforts on the floor. I could see it with Boogie if he's playing well and Harden half-a**ing it is costing them performance and winning winnable games. This is Boogie's maybe last shot at securing some kind of decent contract or money going forward.

I can see Boogie decking Harden.

I'd pay good money to see that and I'd buy a Boogie jersey after that. Maybe even contribute to a Kickstart to pay the team fine.

i'm not sure boogie has the eye for the kind of half-assing harden does, tbh. and assuming he stays, they're going to win a lot of games. i mean, what does harden half-assing look like? he pretty much comes in every year out of shape and barely bothers to pretend playing defense 80% of the time. how would this be any different? no way he's going to just not dribble a lot and shoot a lot of lazy threes.

disengaged harden is harden. it's the problem. but houston will finish 4th or 5th if he's there, maybe higher if other teams have injuries.

Was thinking his norm would drop if disgruntled and pissed they didn’t cave to his demands? What does that look like on the court and in the locker room?

I'm glad he's staying. I hate to see great players leave the team they grew up on... unless they come here. :ADeyeshift:

I wonder how teams will be able to pay these salaries with no stadium revenue, at least in the short term.

Giannis re-signing = Bye, Kostas. In reality, I think this is great news for the Lakers. No what-ifs regarding Giannis and the Lakers can prepare for the next free agency period. Love Giannis but he's going to end up with zero rings if he doesn't develop any resemblances of a jumper.

Some of you actually thought the Lakers kept Giannis' brother on the team to butter Giannis into coming to the Lakers?

Love this, for so many reasons. It keeps Giannis in the East, likely keeps him away from our championships, and now we don't have to plan around trying to get him here, only to have it blow up in our faces. I suspect our FO and players knew this was coming and that's why they went ahead with the contract extensions. Maybe now we cut Kostas and waste that spot on Pau instead. Either way, I'm glad this is resolved and behind us. Excited to keep looking forward and see what more our FO can do to extend our title run.

LOL we gotta wait at least a couple weeks as that will be a crappy look. Maybe the trade deadline when we normally evaluate and make moves, plus gives Pau's rehab a lot more time.

BTW, whatever it is that this surgery was for with his foot ..... is it possible that contributed some or a lot to how he last looked as a player?

Giannis resigning makes me happy. I was terrified at the prospect of him joining Luka in Dallas.

I was more worried about him joining forces with Riley in Miami.

That would be scary too, but Giannis/Luka for the next 6-7 years? I don't think Riley could have gotten any better than Luka next to him. Luka is literally the perfect player to pair with Giannis. Ball handler that can take the pressure off of Giannis, excellent passer and great shooter. Dallas would have two top 5 players along with Zinger and an owner that will spend whatever it takes to put the pieces around him. Luka plus Giannis might have closed our title window after two more seasons.

yeah, we weren't getting him; now nobody else is.

also, this allows us to keep our useful players--hopefully on reasonable deals--which will help us commit to building via trade instead of FA, which is dumb.
