Regarding Pau, I've been mulling it over since posting that tweet and here's where I'm at...

If he can give you 9 minutes a night for 52 games, I'm in. Might not even need that much, but he has to have that much gas left. I really want a 7 foot shot blocker for our last big, since we lost both McGee and Dwight. We have AD for that still and then Bron and Trez for chase downs, but there's not another interior presence waiting at the rim. A Thon Maker or even Kyle O'Quinn, who has a bit of a reputation as a decent swatter.

That said, nostalgia and the sentimentals run deep with Pau. Have him show you what he's got -- whether it's a camp invite or a workout. Get a feel for where he's at and go from there. If he's cooked, offer him a suit and coaching gig. If there's a little left, give him a non guaranteed deal for the last roster spot.

Lakers won one for Kobe. But I think it would mean a lot for Pau and the Bryant's for Pau to be able to win one for him in purple and gold.

If we can get Robinson or someone similar, I'm good with giving the last two to Dudz and Pau (if he can go). We're a lot younger and have guys in their prime who can eat up the minutes. We need a little locker room and bench morale management. We lost our two biggest cheerleaders. Without fans, bench leaders become important. Vets with respected voices also greatly matter.

If he has anything left then his IQ, passing, and touch would be a nice addition for 4 minute bursts, twice a game for 75% of the games. For Pau, Marc, Kobe, and the Gasol legacy in LA, it'd be a nice touch.

Another option, if he's cooked... give him a 10 day when they're available. He can lace them up once more. Play with his brother in a NBA game and have a Lakers jersey be the last one he wears.

I remember some of the other Hassan stories from the last couple years about how dumb he is. But here's another classic.

    Glad we passed.

i'd love to have pau for nostalgic reasons, but unfortunately it doesn't seem like there's room for a nostalgia signing on this roster. and it's not like the locker room is in desperate need of a vet presence

last time we saw pau in the NBA he was absolutely done. maybe a year off has given him a few extra miles, but at this point the team would be better off signing one of the available FA big men (who isn't 40)

My only gripe with our current roster is losing Dwight. We’re a Marc Gasol injury away from really being in trouble at center. Would love for us to get Dedmon with one of our last two roster spots.

Agree... For all his goofs/flaws, Howard (and McGee) protected the rim. Gasol will not provide that and is more of a positional defender.

Get Dedmon and Dudley or Glen Robinson III?, then roll with it.

He's just an idiot - which unfortunately, translates to the basketball court. He'll average his 15/10/2.5 blocks but then you're going to be losing games by 20 and wonder why.

Close, but I was thinking more along the lines of Deng 72,000,000 - Lakers 0 ;)

Look at it this way, it was the springboard to change. Lakers won a title because of it. It worked out in the end.
