Raiii...ders! Raiii...ders! Raiii...ders! This game really played on my nerves...blood pressure and emotions. Now unwinding. Tomorrow, Christmas with family in Riverside. Charger fans all over. Wearing my Raider jersey with smirk and all. Lastly...thank you Charles Woodson! Off to Arrowhead. Kick Kansas City's ***!
What do we make of the Raiders rookies? Cooper is leading all rookies in catches, yards, and TDs. Mario Edwards Jr. is tied for 20th in sacks among rookies with 2.0. He's 18th in tackles with 42 total. I think he's been a MUCH better player the second half of the season. Walford is solid, and his numbers over the second half of the season project well: First 8 games: 8 receptions, 94 yards, 2 TDs Next seven games: 15 receptions, 189 yards, 1 TD John Feliciano has appeared in only five games. He's currently second on the depth chart at RG. Ben Heeney is flying up the tackles chart. He's up to 24th with 34 combined tackles. Heeney had 1 tackle through 8 games. In his next 3 games, he posted 1.5 sacks, 7 tackles, 3 assists. In his last three games, he has posted 1.0 sacks, 15 tackles, and 3 assists. Neiron Ball emerged as a solid cover LB, saw time in six games, registered a sack and 4 solo tackles plus one assist. He also recovered a fumble. Then he tore up his knee and will miss the season. Max Valles was just claimed by someone off Oakland's practice squad. He has massive upside. Anthony Morris hasn't suited up, as far as I know. Andre Debose was injured in preseason, took an injury settlement. Dexter McDonald saw action in only one game in the first half of the season. He has since appeared in five straight, registering four tackles. I think he's in the nickel or dime role right now.
I hope the neck injury to Edwards isn't career threatening...even more importantly, to his life. It was pointed out that Mack's production was due to the rookie's emergence as a pass rusher which drew attention. Unfortunate that he along with Smith's suspension has taken its toll along those lines. If both come back next season with Heeney and Ball healthy plus a stronger secondary...watch out.
Whoa. I missed the Edwards injury. That's serious. Wishing him a speedy recovery. Reece? I don't know. Del Rio used Olawale a lot more than I'd imagined he would. He's definitely not as skilled, but he and Helu probably fill the void combined, except for blocking.
I'm with you on the Edwards situation... Neck injuries are serious... Olawale is younger and has raw potential... He had the huge run against Cincinnati that was called back, contributed in spot roles. What Reece contributes is that locker room professionalism. Great team player who is happy about the team's direction. LInemen on both sides and help in the secondary are prime needs. Carrie could move to safety. Someone/anyone to do the returns too.
2016 Schedule: Home: Denver, Kansas City, San Diego, Houston, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Carolina, Buffalo Away: Denver, Kansas City, San Diego, Jacksonville, Tennessee, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Baltimore From the looks of it at a glance, it does not look daunting. Other than our division opponents...Indianapolis, Carolina at home and Baltimore on the road look to be the toughest. The rest comprise of middling teams. Atlanta, Buffalo and Tampa Bay don't concern me as they would have in previous seasons. Same with Houston. Our squad is better than they were from a year ago.
I have a stat that I call QB Impact. Higher is better. Top three seasons since 2004 for Oakland QBs (among those who have started a game): 1. Carr 21.0 (2015) 2. Campbell 9.0 3. Gannon 4.6 Games Played/Started: 1. Carr 16 (2014) -could tie it this year Most Wins 1. Campbell 7 (2010) 1. Carr 7 (2015) -could break that tie Most Completions 1. Carr 348 (2014) 2. Carr 329 (2015) Most Attempts 1. Carr 599 (2014) Most Yards 1. Palmer 4018 (2012) 2. Carr 3793 (2015) -needs 226 to pass Most DS 1. Carr 31 (2015) CAREER POST-GANNON QB IMPACT 1. Carr 19.2 2. Campbell 13.3 GAMES 1. Carr 31 1. Russell 31 STARTS 1. Carr 31 2. Collins 28 WINS 1. Campbell 11 2. Carr 10 COMPLETIONS 1. Carr 677 2. Collins 591 YARDS 1. Collins 7254 2. Carr 7063 TDs 1. Carr 52 2. Awful, awful, awful. I'll focus on the good in a little bit, but Jeez...stop taking sacks, Carr. WTF, man?
