Good drive, good kick by Carlson. Up 10.

Decent drive. Worked clock. Punt coming with 3:40 left.

 

Trayvon Mullen coming off the field on a stretcher. Jesus.

 

Seven point game. 89 seconds left.

 

Waller corrals it.

 

Washington seals it. Heck of a game for him. 85 yards and a score on the ground. 2-21 through the air.

Oakland wins their seventh game. Since 2003, they've won more games only three times. Yikes!

 

A look back at the game...
Nevin Lawson had a huge breakup early on. He had another solid defensive play to limit yards after a tough catch. One the final drive for the Chargers, he broke up a pass in the back of the end zone.

Mad Maxx in the backfield blowing up a third and 1. I didn't remember hearing his name much otherwise.

Compton with a tough assignment. I like Compton, but he's not much of a pass defender. He also whiffed on a tackle in coverage on a RB. If he can't cover TEs or RBs, it's not good. Not Whitehead bad, but it's not good.

Tyrell Williams had one of his better showings in some time (not saying much). He did a lot with the ball after the reception. His 82 yards were tied for third most on the season, and he's now at about where he was last year (in fewer games) in terms of overall counting stats.

Let's talk RBs
They combined for 28 carries, 96 yards, and a TD on the ground and added 6 receptions for 39 yards. That's 34 touches and 135 yards. Ball control.
Richard converted a big third and 1 before the half. He even ran for a first down on some tough short yardage plays despite dealing with an ankle injury.
Washington capped that 9 minute drive to start the second half. That was maybe the best drive of the season, and Washington was a beast. He picked a pass off his shoe laces to gain a first down just before the third quarter ended.

Renfrow: 100 yards, huge TD, multiple third down conversions. Solid punt returns. Coming back from that injury, he's showing why the Raiders got a steal in him.

Keisean Nixon gave too much space to Keenan Allen, and a 6 yard reception tunred into a 15 yard first down.

Worley was all over the place - in a good way. He played "four spots" according to Gruden. But he gave up a big catch to Allen down to the 1 that eventually led to a TD.

Carr was decisive on his throws, worked through progressions, and had a nifty run on his keeper.

Carlson booted that 48-yard FG. He earned all six points he attempted. Good bounce back game from him. I think he put all of his kicks into or out of the back of the end zone, too.

Ferrell's sack was big time. He was held, but he never gave up. Turned a second and six into a third and 21.

Let's look at the tense moments late in the game...
Up 10, the Raiders give the Chargers the ball at their own 10. 3:32 remains.
Rivers proceeds to dismantle the secondary, driving them to the red zone.

Curtis Riley's hit on Trayvon Mullen looked bad on tape. Damn. He's being evaluated for a neck injury last I heard, but it might be another concussion. Riley was flying, and ended up going head to head with Mullen - obviously utterly unintentionally.

Waller secures the onsides kick. And that's all.
