Two nice drives here, but both stalled out. I am only following it and seeing highlights. Are these sacks on Carr or the o-line? Atrocious.

Burfict on video punching Dalvin Cook. I can't see him avoiding a suspension.

the line wasn't great but car had happy feet a bit. He didn't seem to have that confidence he had in week one. A couple of them were wide open lanes into the back field. So blown assignments and carr not getting rid of the ball cost us.

I don't want to be the apologist for garbage football, but some perspective is important here.

    Last 18 drives
4 forced long distance by penalty
    3 Bad Drives
3 forced long distance by sack
    2 tds
    2 Incognito – rusty play
(one of these was still a potential scoring drive - 1 missed fg)
    1 sack and fumble
    1 bad INT (Carr)
1 INT because Williams misread a sign from Carr
1 miss on a not good throw and not good catch (Carr to Waller)
That’s 8 of 18 drive featuring a penalty, sack, or fumble.

That’s 3 “rusty/lack of rapport” type plays – two by Incognito and one by Williams (both new players)
In the other seven drives, 3 were bad drives, 1 was a bad INT, and 3 were potentially scoring drives.

    Things to Do
    1. Protect the QB. Too many sacks allowed in the last two weeks, putting them in the middle of the pack. 13th worst sack% per dropback in the NFL, all in the last two weeks.

    2. Cut down on penalties. Oakland has the 11th most penalty yards in the NFL.

    3. Build rapport.
Out of the top four receivers, in terms of targets, for this season, here's how many times Carr targeted those players last season:
    Waller 6
    Williams 0
    Renfrow 0
    Grant 0

    By comparison, here's Mahomes's:
    Watkins 55
    Kelce 150
    Hardman 0
    Robinson 33
-That's 238 vs. 6. Think Mahomes knows his receivers a bit better than Carr?

    Offensive Line Rapport
-Player / Snaps with team last year, by total snaps:
    Devey 0
    Hudson 1042!
    Good 187
    Miller 1008!
    Brown 0

    Again, vs. Mahomes's line
    Reiter 266 (2 years w/ Chiefs)
    Wylie 687 (2 years w/ Chiefs)
Duvernay 331 (2800 with the Chiefs) (6 years w/ Chiefs)
    Schwartz 1045! (4 years w/ Chiefs)
    Fisher 1042! (7 years w/ Chiefs)
-Even Cam Erving, who's next in snaps, has been with KC for three seasons and has more than 1100 snaps over the last two years.
That's a minimum of 266, average of 654 for the Chiefs, minimum of 0, average of 440 for the Raiders.

Colts are getting 5.5, so go for Oakland. They might even win this one! Here’s hoping for lots of Jacobs.

We have to be honest with ourselves. Raiders are not a good team. Giving Indy way too many chances.

Raiders have put together two excellent drives. Only 3 points on them, but they were long (13 minutes combined) and drained the defense.

Three false starts on that drive. Awful.

And this is what I wanted to see. The penalties were bad on that last drive but we are showing what my eyes are telling me. The D is better than people think and if Carr can get out and throw the ball like he can we will win a lot more games than people think.

Injuries, toughest schedule, 5 weeks away from home.... the deck is stacked against us for sure.

Erik Harris makes it irrelevant with a pick six. Nice.

    - Lions fall asleep on a return. -
    - Chargers get the worst team to play.
    - Gardner Minshew is a baaad man.
    - we desperately need a number two receiver along with linebackers aplenty.

    Next week:

    - we play Da Bears in London.
    - Broncos play the Chargers.
    - Chiefs get Indy at home.

    Raiders/Bears in London
The Bears have a top two defense and one of the worst offenses in the league. If they can dictate the pace of the game, the Raiders will be in trouble. Oakland's key is to harass the QB and stay on the field on O.

Raiders on O: Carr has faced the Bears once, throwing for 196 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 INT. The Raiders lost that game. The Bears have 27 QB Hits and 17 sacks already. The WRs are depleted - with everyone injured, out, or with a backup in their position, so Jacobs will have to get going in the running game. Chicago's run D has allowed just 61.5 yards per game, and only 3.0 yards per attempt. His uncanny ability to break tackles and move through contact will be key.

Bears on O: Chase Daniel isn't a bad QB, but he has one severe limitation - he takes a lot of sacks. His 8.5% sack rate in his career is almost twice Carr's, and he's been sacked 10 times in his last 106 attempts. The Raiders looked great getting pressure on the QB - until they sat their most productive rusher. That leaves them with 13 QB Hits and 5 sacks through four games. Now, Key and Crosby have been close on a few sacks this season, so here's hoping they play with an extra gear.

Special Teams: Dwayne Harris piled up 151 return yards on five total returns prior to injury. The other two returners have totaled 36 on their seven combined returns since then. We know Davis has speed, but he has yet to unleash it on special teams.

    Chicago 21
    Oakland 16

Excellent drive - destroyed by Incognito. Then a terrible special teams play.
