...trying to BUT it's done. Moving on from this saga. Good luck to Rodgers, Cousins and Stafford along with the rest of the NFC QB's. Go get 'em number 52!

Wtf are we giving up picks for. Chucky era is forced upon us whether you like it or not.

Instead of going into the new stadium with Carr and Mack as your leaders, we’ll have Carr and ????

Good job Jimmy Davis, I mean Marc Buss. Ahh f*** it.

...tsk, tsk, we give up draft picks too. Who the f*** is in charge of the trades? We could have asked for a player too.

    - just traded for QB AJ McCarron.

It'll be interesting how much Mack is getting from Chicago. If it is less that Donald that we could have offered many Raider fans will be pissed.

WTF! McCarron couldn’t throw at Alabama. Is he really a better backup than what we have??

Get Chucky out of the trading room!!!

This is ridiculous. Bryant gone. Worley suspended. Mack gone. This team is going to be insanely inconsistent.

Yea, but our coach got a 10yr/$100MM deal. That has to be historical in some way.

    6. And I think he will start losing the locker room. That might precipitate more changes, which means downward trending.

    With Mack: 10-6 to 8-8
    Without Mack: 6-10 to 4-12

    Yes, **************, he's that crucial.

We're suspect at the tackle spots on the o-line. One's a rookie and the other is re-learning a different side. Defensively, a big loss which goes without saying. Irvin, Key, Calhoun, Brown ALL better step up as they all have a giant hole to shore up.

I loved Mack but I think he wanted to be the highest paid and the bears gave it to him. I am OK with the Raiders not selling the farm. Is the guy a beast? Of course but like it was said earlier in this thread (by Trodg I think) Macks numbers have gone down each year. No matter how great Mack is our defense was still getting torched. We didn't get pressure on the QB enough and our Corners (who weren't great to begin with) were giving up big plays. If Mack can get us 2 or 3 solid players that makes our defense better. Don't get me wrong I am not drinking Raider kool-aid here I think we should of signed him just not for 23 mil a year. I'm shocked they didn't figure it out but he and his team seemed dead set on getting that massive deal. 60 mill signing and 90 mil guaranteed? I think.

This just a question to see what you guys think.

Think the Raiders balked at it to stop this trend of "I want to be the highest paid at (insert position)" that players seem to be on right now?

I thought they should have paid him. He was their top 10 pick in the draft. He established himself as the 3rd best defensive player in the league, at least that is what the consensus opinions have been. That’s no easy task. Why shouldn’t he expect to get paid big bucks? Donald got big money as the #1 defensive player, even with the Rams adding Suh, so there is nothing out of order in his demands.

And even if you gave him what he wanted and his performance didn’t stay up over the next year or two, surely there is another team that would be more than willing to take a chance on him.

Who should get the big bucks, quarterbacks only?

I laugh at people concerned about the money. The NFL is ROLLING in dough and the money is only going to get bigger, just like the NBA. It’s natural inflation. A big number today is a small number, or a bargain depending on the situation, 2-3yrs from now. Whoever is next up for a contract next year that is top 5 in offense or defense will demand the same type of contract. And he will get it. So who cares about Mack’s demand. There was no cap issue for the Raiders and we already locked up a very promising quarterback with quality receivers.

What you don’t want to do is give money to mediocre talent like the Lakers did with Mozgov. But the Raiders of course did something similar in signing Chucky for 10 YEARS. Maybe there is an out in the fine print, but a 10yr commitment is marriage level numbers, not employment. A 10yr commitment already tells you that there will be a rebuilding process for at least the reason that Chucky knows he has more than enough time to do it. (If your job were to say the earliest we will fire you is 10yrs from now, versus 5yrs from now, how would your approach be?) There would have been nothing wrong with giving him a 5yr deal, at least he would know he has to produce in a shorter time line. Maybe then he would not have been so passive in letting Mack go. He talked that b******* about doing everything to keep Mack to those Raiders fans at the pub. He’ll be seen as a liar and will lose the support of the fans and team. He has already lost my support if it isn’t obvious.

Also with the Raiders going into a new stadium and City, why wouldn’t you go in with something to sell that excites the fans? What better than to have the leaders of your offense and defense coming out of the same draft, who are friends and both kicking a**? It’s just stupid. Kronke avoided that mistake by locking up his important players, even signing Curry, etc. to nice contracts before he even got to Donald. Kronke has given Rams fans something to be excited about, to capture the city with, and something to market. Who are the Raiders marketing besides Carr? Irvin on defense? Huh? What? The Raiders fumbled the ball with Mack. I’m not surprised though because Marc Davis is the closest thing to Jim Buss, and but for his legendary father he would not be in this position. Chucky’s contract years 6-10 are of the same stupidity and desperation of Mosgov and Deng’s guaranteed 4th years. Head scratcher.

I’m rambling at this point because I’m pissed, but you see my point. Fans need to connect with players and Raiders fans are big into that. We still sport jerseys for players from the 80’s and 70’s. Who reps your team matters, it builds fan loyalty and helps you get through the lean years.

As it stands now, if they start having a bad season, I will spend my limited NFL viewing time watching the Ravens just to see if my boy Lamar Jackson can get some burn. And now I’ll be peaking in on Bears games just to see Mack. Maybe even some Rams action, at least they are local. But, I will not continue to give all my NFL time to the Raiders because they are incompentent and have been so for over a decade except for those couple years with Del Rio. Just like I almost tuned out the Lakers completely until Jeannie finally got the balls to fire jimmy.
