McGill's first start, I think. He comes in with just 4 tackles, 1 pass defended. He has added a solo tackle, that fumble recovery, and a TD. Nice job, rook!
Carr tosses a TD to Jamize Olawale. Pulls Oakland to within two scores. Carr's up to 3218 yards and 21 TDs. Carr moves into 11th place among rookies, passing Russell Wilson and RGIII. Ryan Tannehill is next; Carr would need 78 yards to pass him. His 21 TD passes is tied for 8th most among rookie QBs. He is tied with Cam Newton.
Jack Del Rio a candidate. Sparano in the mix...probably just a formality. Maybe he can stay on as a top assistant. Raiders at 5 in the draft.
We're not likely to trade down, which is a shame - could've used more picks. I wouldn't be opposed to Sparano, honestly. What do we go for first - DL or WR?
Sigh... A stud DL can help pressure opposing QBs since it is a passing League nowadays. A very good one in Ellis is on board. Maybe Tuck can give another serviceable season. Woodley? Who knows? Could he come back from that freak injury. Linebacker and secondary corps is in good shape. Wide-outs? On the fence... Maybe, just maybe we can chance upon a diamond in the later rounds but yes it is imperative that Carr is given a top flight go to guy to throw to. That flea flicker for a near TD and that 4th down review summarized this season. Near misses that could shape overall mentality for the better. Things though are on the uptick...now it's time for The Son of Al and Reggie Mc to build on it.
There was a write-up that Sparano is similar to Cable. It is somewhat valid. Tough, no-nonsense, no BS kind of coach. I like him BUT it is a League that sells to fans and free agents alike. Organization needs a coach that has that "star" quality that can draw in those two factions. It is really needed right now to escalate the rebuild process. I'm tired of hearing high level tier free agents spurning us because it is not cool to be here. Del Rio has that somewhat. Gruden? Definitely... Heck, I thought I read that Sean Payton is on the outs in Nawlins too. He has that "it" factor. Ryan does too as much as the thought repulses me. Read that Mark Davis held a meeting with The Michigan Man this morning.
I want Harbaugh far away from Oakland. I'm not impressed by del Rio, mostly because for whatever reason Jacksonville went deep into the trash. I mean deep. And I guess I blame him. I agree with your thoughts on Sparano. Of course I'd love to have Gruden back.

QB Impact: Post-Gannon Years I started keeping a stat to reflect the impact a QB makes on a franchise, solely from a passing/leadership POV. I find the post-Gannon years fascinating, because we've made so many moves, have brought in some interesting QBs, but ultimately have found no stability. Since 2004, no QB has started more than 28 games for Oakland, and we have had 17 different QBs start a game. Even finding a QB with a positive rating is tough. Campbell, Carr, and Gannon are the only Raiders QBs with a positive rating and more than 1 start. Because I'm considering only the Post-Gannon era, Gannon is disqualified, so that leaves Campbell and Carr. BTW, it's hard to score a positive rating on a losing team, because each loss is -1. Starts/Player/Impact Rating 28 Collins -5.1 25 Russell -17.5 24 Palmer 0.0 18 Campbell 13.3 16 Carr 0.5 10 Pryor -6.4 9 McCown -4.3 9 Walter -19.4 8 Gradkowski -1.6 8 Brooks -11.9 6 Culpepper -0.5 6 McGloin -4.2 3 Gannon 4.6 3 Frye -1.0 1 Flynn 3.9 1 Tuiasosopo -4.9 1 Boller -5.9 0 Leinart -4.3 0 Schaub -4.5 0 Losman -27.5
