So who would you take if you were the Lakers at 4? You seem to not like guys like Culver which is shocking because I believe he's the best guy at 4 and he's young and will continue to get better...

To me it's a toss up between Culver and Garland. Hunter is more of a 3 and D type guy with less upside. He's more of a 7-10th pick

It does appear Garland has the highest upside. If this is the case and we keep the pick, let’s go for it.

I still don’t think Lonzo is a sure thing, he hasn’t proved much in the past 2 years except that he can’t shoot, and he can’t play more than 60 games a season.

Garland could coexist with Lonzo but also acts as insurance if Lonzo is confirmed as a bust.

Hes already NOT a bust. He cant shoot. He does everything else at an above average level for his position, and is already at an elite level on some skills.

One reason I'm high on Garland is he excels at the things Lonzo needs work on.

Garland is the only one that passes the eye test for me.

Lonzo's defense and instincts are scary when he plays. Only thing scarier is trading him too soon and having him do a DAR.

Lonzo = much more athletic Nate McMillan.

Prove me wrong! (Crowder voice) since we don't much have to do these days.

I'm hearing the Lakers scouting guys are highest on Garland right now, but I'll know more tomorrow. Still more workouts to be completed though, so things are still dynamic on this front.

How do the trade talks with NOLA affect this pick though? I'm sure the Pelicans don't want to end up with a log jam of Jru, Zo, and Garland. Unless we're keeping Zo and sending out Kuz instead...

Agree. I'm kind of wondering if Griffin will look to move Jrue to stockpile more assets. The Suns #6 pick comes to mind.

Likely a third team will be needed to facilitate the trade.

If Griffin plays this right, he could end up with an amazing team in 4-5 years. So could we if we are patient.

I do not want this dude. He appears to have the speed and mobility of an about to retire Metta World Peace. I remember him from the tournament, and he is and can be very good, but man it’s jarring how slow he looks compared to some other prospects we’re looking at. It’s just great to see LFR back at it though honestly

He's also older, so he doesn't have much of a ceiling than what he's already shown here. Maybe a mid 1st round pick, but not a lottery pick as he's projected.

    Hey @lakerfan2 !

The trade has to be agreed upon before draft night, so the Lakers can choose who the Pelicans want. It may not be completed until free agency begins, though.

    Thanks for the reply.

That's a lot of moving parts and trust isn't it? While being agreed, NOLA could essentially decide to back out since it technically wouldn't be official until completed after free agency, right? Although that would be poor faith on NOLA's part, it's still a possibility.

yeah, he may be shane battier 2.0 at best. he could be a lot worse. there's a reason people have been down on this draft for a couple years now.
