Probably not a good idea. In the NFL, trading down a few spots to stockpile talent works. But because one player can make such a huge difference in the NBA, two good players does not equal one great one. At #4, we have a legit chance of getting the second or maybe even best player in the draft. Not to mention the fact that we are a young team as it is. We'd be adding 2 kids instead of one.
Right, I agree. I’m just really intrigued by Bol, but I wouldn’t take him 4. He might be the best 3 pt shooter in the draft and also the best rim protector. That’s like an Alicorn. His foot injury concerns me though.
Lakers NEED what Garland possesses. I mean, everything in his game is EXACTLY what they need. Unless it's for AD, Lakers must draft Garland at 4. He could start immediately with Lonzo at the 1. If the Lakers want to get Kyrie, than Lonzo would have to go. Lakers get Kemba Walker II in the draft less 30 mil per and than they can focus on getting some players who can ball in the summer that dont have to be stars if Kawhi and those types fall through. Focus on what you have, not what you MIGHT have. It's all but certain that the first 3 picks will be Zion, Ja and RJ. Garland might be the best player in this draft when it's all said and done. Why? Because he possesses what the NBA is right now. Shooting, athleticism and shooting.
No rookie is going to give the Lakers what they desperately need when we've signed a player in win now mode. Very few rookies will produce at a usable level once we make the playoffs. I'm not getting too hung up on the draft pick. Who knows if we even keep it.
we need that skill set in the body of a proven and productive player I hope he can be that guy if we take him, but most rookies aren't.
Exactly. He has modern NBA skills. Not only can he play next to Lonzo, but he can compliment him perfectly by filling in the gaps of Lonzo's game.
C'mon.. Package the #4 to get an experienced Player that can contribute now along with whatever FA we can lure & we're back in business.. No more developing Youth.
It would be nice in these discussions of trade the 4 pick or not if we magically could know who we are realistically talking about. So this side gets benefit of the doubt while we know who Garland is. If AD sure and then it would just be fun to know who actually would want to come that was a star or star talented player.
Obviously that'd be nice, but who is that player? If the Pelicans don't want to trade with us, then are we trading #4 for Beal? McCollum? Are those players even available? I don't want to move the #4 pick for a solid piece like a Malik Beasley or something. Not when we could get someone like Garland that matches the age of Ingram and Lonzo and fits perfectly with them. And if we get Kawhi, I want to keep the pick. Kawhi just led his team to the Finals with Kyle Lowry as the second best player. Imagine if his side kick is Lebron and the rest of his starting five is Ingram, Lonzo and (for the sake of this argument) DeAndre Jordan with Garland, Kuz and Hart off the bench?
yea i see that mentality of trading #4 for a vet without being specific is a narrow minded a bit...has to be a star, no if or ands about it....not trading #4 for vet role player
Garland played at Vanderbilt. Not only is he a stand out athlete who can shoot, he is smart as a whip. Vanderbilt is the ivy league school of the south.
