I'd say Eddie Jones was a nice one too.

Not arguing that, I loved Eddie but let's face it, after we moved him, he didn't do much. Had a decent career, was a solid pro but not great. There are a number of good players on that list, wasn't trying to say there weren't. But the superstar type players that were unknowns prior are NOT there. Kobe is Wests best get because nobody else knew how good he was, West did and was willing to go all in.

That's great value for CJ. Dude is on a 25% max contract for the next 2 years when he's eligible for a 30% max bag now. Then when the extension kicks in (2021/22 season), he will be making less than the 25% max at that time. So over the life of his contract he will never see an annual 30% max and his scale will actually dip below the 25% max in a couple years. Great contract offer by Olshey.

Fyi: had AD came to us with his full trade kicker, he would be earning a near 30%max bag this season and we could have immediately offered him an extension (kind of like CJ's) that would honor that 30% max scale so that we could avoid the semantics of his opt out next summer. Under the present scenario, we are unable to offer that type of extension to him.

I’m happy to be underpaying Davis instead of overpaying McCollum.

    Bet olshey would, too.

Haha...seems like you don't get it.

I'm thrilled about not having the ability to lock up AD on a 30% max extension into a 35% max bag when eligible.

Looking forward to another summer of free agency after a year with the national media doing their best to drive a wedge among us/Bron/AD/Klutch.

Bet other Laker fans are thrilled about it too. Yippee.

I mean with AD a near lock to re-up with us, what could possibly go wrong? (see Cp3 nixed deal, Nash/Dwight derailment, Kobe Achilles, George ghost'n us, Bron missing critical games/Finals after 8 consecutive years, 2019 free agency)....unless of course you've foreseen something else entirely abeerstradomus?

Haha you on one bro. One too many beers. Our frontline could use some cheap veteran depth, but how you got missing on him from my post is a reach.

I was pointing out how Presti could have forced Patterson in the George deal to extract either Harrell or Lou in it. They also avoided George at a higher cap hit since the 15% trade kicker was waived to help salary match. Instead, they had to buyout Patterson and/or stretch him and spare Ballmer from paying a lot luxury tax. Which is why I said Presti is on Ballz payroll.

But if you want to play that game tho, dude was doing decent in Toronto, then Donovan happened.

So maybe the journeyman can turn it around with Doc.

And since you seem to be on some petty crusade, let's get silly...

You in 2018: Morey will overcome the impossibility of CBA obstructions and bring in LeBron.

You in 2019: the possibility of being a 3rd team to facilitate a deal with our cap is an impossibility cause of the Steipen rule, even though the protected picks that were involved included the teams who could amend the protections on those same picks.

So CBA rules only apply when it meets your own imagination. Silly rabbit, rode trix don't work like that.

    #StillDoesntGetIt

Btw, if your post wasn't directed towards me in that way, disregard the above haha

Really? I chose to ignore alot of your recent posts that appeared to be addressing me in particular.

But if you're going to keep chasing clout..."the route is on".

I'm more than game to have a discussion, just bring the big guns if you're going to take your shot.

Anyways...I still hope Melo can find a way to team up and mentor Kuzma this season. #Melokuzma'sRevenge

Again we desperately need frontline depth and anyone that can help minimize Bron's usage in the regular season should be looked at if we're really looking to make a run in the postseason. Don't forget, Bron's usage went up from Oct to Dec before the groin injury occurred.

I still would aim for a center, but if one can't be had, hoodwinked Melo would be a decent contingency to unleash on D'anphoni/Htown.

i've had to resort to parody because you're not arguing honestly (see: stepien rule argument, in which you were most definitely factually incorrect about the rule itself, then pivoted and pivoted until you could claim you were right). all of these s***-on-rob scenarios involve arcane cap knowledge that a) i guarantee you rob has and b) almost always involve someone having to grant several shaky premises to accept that your routE was the royal road to everlasting victory (as opposed to the route chosen by our collection of idiots--some of whose job it is to know the cap and who have proven that they do to embarrassing effect for the national press).

talking about how patrick patterson coming to the clips on a buyout shows olshey's relative "genius" to our FO (btw, weren't you just three months ago clowning everyone--including me--who said the clips had been out-managing us for years?) is a great example. we don't know everything that was discussed between those teams, and you pretend like you do. is lac holding out from taking on patterson and giving up harrell (or whomever you're suggesting--with no basis whatsoever, i might add) any different from the lakers not having solomon hill on their cap right now? we can't know because we don't actually know how those conversations went. you just choose to always interpret it as if whatever anyone else is doing is sharp and whatever we've done is dumb. which is astonishing given your attitude pre-offseason.

it's trolling at this point. you're not persuading anyone, and i'm not even sure why you're trying. your non-FO discourse is as good as ever, though! wish you spent more time on that and less on trying to pretend like magic was good and rob is bad, which is at worst false and at best pretty immaterial.

What's parody is the majority of the fan base was out for blood last season when we made ambiguous cap shaving moves, yet my critique of what was actually done with that cap space is suddenly too red. #paredy

Getting rid of assets (without even future assets in return) for a max slot was something I was completely behind and would do again...IF that max slot went to a max player. There was a robust supply of those players this summer, yet we appeared to be only in play for one. Meanwhile some quite literally willed their way into the bidding war (see capped out Miami).

When the smoke settled, it was only us and Dallas with 20m+ in cap space for 2nd/3rd tier free agents. Instead of rushing to give 4m to a journeyman like McGee and outside of Green and Cook, essentially 1yr deals, how about look to use your cap space to gain back assrtsost in the AD deal? Cook has 4m guaranteed of his 2 yr 6m deal...he could have signed a fully guaranteed 2yr vet min and got the same bag. McGee only read taking to Houston and they only could offer him vet min. Caruso was only taking to the dubs and they were hard capped. Boogie was not actively sought out, so he only stood to lose 700k if he signed a vet min. Salvage that cap space to absorb a large deal like Iggy with picks attached.

I've seen you contend that picks aren't even a valuable commodity. Yet how many were used to secure Kawhi via George? How many previous lottos did we have to attend in our 6 year abyss to get enough assets for AD and that was even with them more willing to do a deal after getting gifted Zion, while we once again lucked into a lotto pick ourselves. Just cause Ainge doesn't know how to play the game doesn't mean picks don't have value.

As for the Steipen rule, I know it and I thought I made it clear that it wouldn't impede discussions with us as a 3rd team among Miami and Okc since the picks from previous trades involved all teams involved and rode protections could be amended so that other picks could be made available. Seems like you don't understand that concept yet were steadfast in Bron to Houston even though there were far more limitations in that possiblity. Who is trolling who again?

As for the cLips Okc deal, I don't get how Olshey is involved there. But getting CJ for below 25% of the cap in future seasons is a good extension for the Blazers. As for Presti forced to trade George with 2 guaranteed years remaining and forced to buyout Patterson instead of demanding he be part of the George deal is a bizarre. We don't know the details but how was Presti so severely out leveraged when it was the cLips that wanted Kawhi at all costs?

Magic could still be at the helm and I would be critical of how we used our space. So the continued use of your weak-a** and baseless insinuations of Magic vs Rob is just as comical.

So again who is trolling who?

Deals can't be officially consummated till July 6th. The Kawhi decision was made on the night of the 5th.
