that has to be one of the most absurd posts I've ever read lol

You are basically saying athletes are dumb, and their years of mastery of their craft, 1000's of hours of watching film, scheming, diagramming, practicing, etc, all that knowledge could have been obtained by sitting in your LazyBoy chair.

    Well, ok then.

The problem is that they are under a microscope that is much more intense than others. Like my comment about Jordan drafting Kwame. He was salivating over the body that dude have and his potential if he could learn how to use it. Every single person in basketball has made mistakes. Heck, Jerry West famously wanted Moncrief over Magic. That would have been one of the worst colossal mistakes in the history of the NBA. People make mistakes, every frigging genius in the world made mistakes getting to the top. Internet armchair quarterbacks sit back and make judgments in a bubble about people that have very little understanding of the real obstacles they faced. And they rarely can accept that people need to be able to make mistakes and learn from them. Nobody here has done anything worthwhile without making mistakes themselves, yet they hold everybody else totally responsible at a level they could never reach themselves. Of course the truth of it is, when someone is NOT much of your concern, it is very easy to do this to them. You can count on the fact that if someone from Boston has any chink in their armor that I can make fun of, I'm not gonna give them one tenth of an inch to wiggle free. But not to my own team or the players on my team.

You look through that list and there are a number of solid serviceable pros, but nothing more. Vlade, Derek and Green are his best picks. But Jerry knew how to find pro players, tons of pros on that list. No superstars.

Kobe was actually same as a draft pick and Logo scooped the NBA on that one.

Kobe was his greatest accomplishment, and I would argue that 90% of his career reputation for excellence was built off of that single accomplishment.

That and the Shaq signing; both of which were amazing place setters for a 3 year dynasty.

Yeah, the greatest player on that list is Worthy. But even there, the better pick would have been Nique. I still occasionally fantasize about Nique on the wing finishing the break after one of Magic's passes.

...picked Mike McGee over Larry Nance. Yeah, I'll keep saying that. :)
...picked Anthony Peeler with Latrell Sprewell available.

Yeah, well the Shaq signing was Jerry Buss telling West to go get him. West discovered Kobe so I give him the credit for that. Shaq was a no brainer. Anyone who thought they could get him, would have been trying.

Oops I missed Worthy. I think that was a good pick too, and while I still prefer Worthy to Dominique, either way would have been a winner. But I will give him some credit for that because Worthy was a really great pick for the team and has been a continuing good asset for the Lakers to be associated with.

But honestly, I think many of us could have made that decision, it wasn't much of a reach.
