He actually gave up his SuperMax deal to come the Houston. On the understanding (from 6th he original owner) that he would get paid later.

Don’t think any of them can play center long term but then again they’d be getting in the way of Mitchell Robinson development. Who knows what they are doing, spending almost all their cap space on 4 PFs

They could have absorbed Westbrick though. Frustrating for Knicks fans

Why would they have wanted to do that?

NYK doing the right thing for once, building organically, gathering assets. Soon they will have cap space again and some nice young players to attract a star. LAL did the same with Lebron and their youth. Then you can trade that youth away if need be, or if not, just grow with youth and star (if he isn't getting up in age)

Spin it however you like. I'm just stating the facts about his circumstance when he came to Houston. Smh...

I actually forgot he gave up some, but in exchange for the max. I'm not sure anyone would have given him the super max though (Clippers)

If they were not going to offer it, or even the max, then the reality might be he didn't give up anything but maybe actually got more by getting himself traded to Houston.

I'm leaning that route, but I'm completely biased and admit it.

It was honorable of the new owner to honor what he and the previous owner agreed on. He didn't have to

Do you think the Clips would have supermaxxed him? I don’t think they would have.

I actually don’t think they wanted to max him either. I think that was smart. It’s a huge albatross contract that will have been viewed as leper status before all is said and done.

I have to say that our coaching staff was assembled in the exact opposite manner that Waltons was. Good thing!!

Of course they would have. He forced his way out remember. Not to mention they SuperMaxxed Blake then turned right around and shipped him out.

I think with West on board, the likelihood was less. As soon as you ship one out, and you know the current squad is going nowhere, I think it's crazy to supermax anyone. Especially at that age.

Either way, I'm glad it wasn't us who made the decision or have to live with the results. I'll enjoy the bonfire from a distance, but I don't see it having a fairy tale ending for CP3.

I also think he was smart enough to "force his way out" before he was dealt to an undesired location. He could see the writing on the wall for sure.

It's nice to see guys who COULD HAVE been on the Lakers, end out nose diving in this league.
Do you think ANY OF THEM look back on what COULD have been??

Does anyone think the Lakers would have found a better way for them to compete? And treated them better than the teams they ended out with??

Jerry West was the one the shipped Blake off.

I keep seeing these kinds of comments, but they are just not true. Jerry West is an advisor to the Clippers FO. He is not the POBO, or the GM. He cant' and doesn't ship anyone off anymore. He may have advised them to dump Blake, but the people in charge made the decision and pulled the trigger.

that was kind of my point

I don't think he's paying gimpy the max let alone the supermax

We'll never know, but it's all a guess at this point.
