if they do a S&T for DLo, wouldn't that mean that they aren't getting KD?

I'm really in favor of bringing Dlo back and after listening to one of the last Locked On Lakers Podcast where they had a reporter on that covered the Nets all last year I'm even more strongly in that boat. I may actually be upset and quite bummed out if we don't get Dlo assuming of course we miss out on Kwahi. I'd even go so far as saying I would rather have Dlo @ $20-24 million/year + $8-12 million to go after another player than Kyrie at the full max. Kawhi is of course plan #1. Dlo catch and shoot 3's is 40% and can pick and roll with AD, Lebron and help out with on the ball duties to give LBJ a break.

Dlo, while being mentored by AD and LBJ is just perfect. Dlo being the sole guy on the team or best player is not good at all, but surrounded by quality talent... it'll work out just fine.

Listen to this podcast I mentioned above if anyone has time.

Also, I'm happy to see this just now:

I wonder if Mintz is going to skip the meeting and just let Austin Brown be the one to meet with us, haha.

I agree on that podcast, I listen to every episode, and while Irwin can be less than positive to put it lightly, it’s still a good show. When Pete or Harrison are on they really balance him out. I’m perfectly happy going after Russ if we miss on Kawhi, that’s still building for the now and the future as Russ is only 23, AD 26, LeBron 34. Also, Woj really wants us to sign him, he’s been pushing Russ heavy on ESPN and he even retweeted this

Lines up exactly with what I just posted about D'Angelo in the Kawhi topic. Glad to hear it's confirmed! I think he'd be a good backup!

This scares me. With the news that Ky is BK bound, I think we're "scrambling" ;) for a Kawhi contingency now that Ky isn't it.

What scares me is maxing out DLo...as well as trading away Moe, Bonga, Jj, 2022 2nd for essentially nothing (accrued 2.2m in additional cap space), cause we had the cap space to get DLo without needing to amend the deal to include those guys.

DLo would work on our Bron-ADcentric roster for sure, but what a let down it would be from Kawhi.

Would be a tremendous fit and role model to have in that young locker room along with Jrue providing mentorship too. Makes a ton of sense

Is Jimmy not a backup plan?

I just got caught up in this thread after being on page 721. I thought I would share some good/funny tweets I've liked over the last few days:

For what it’s worth, this is from a radio appearance yesterday. I would hope Butler is at least on our list, but I’ve seen multiple tweets talking about his interest in Miami.

The most smoke seems to be around Kawhi and Russ for us.

Well, I would hope if we signed Russ it wouldn’t be for his full max, maybe $20-$25 mil tops, a little sacrifice on his part. That would mean the extra cap space we opened could be used on a quality 2nd or 3rd tier guy, then the room exception on another quality guy, and then the rest of the roster filled out with minimum contracts. I really didn’t have high hopes for Bonga or Jones this season so I don’t care that we dumped them, only Wagner seemed to have any real shot at contributing in any way, and if he’s replaced by a better player that cap space opened up, it’s a win.

These players better be on our radar if we get Kawhi or miss out on Russ too. Need a pg above all else, and I don’t want it to be Rondo. I can easily see us retaining McGee as a big as well, and maybe even Lance as another guard

Down to D-Lo and Kawhi? Man, this’ll get interesting. I hope Jimmy comes back around.

I'm sorry Weez, but that doesn't seem like great utilization of the cap we took nearly 3 years to create.

Meanwhile, is this a DLo contingency or is he now considering vet min/room exception if Kawhi joins?

Well, we can agree to disagree, I don’t really look at it as some big failure of the cap space we’ve built over time anyway. Had we kept Russ initially we wouldn’t have had this cap space anyway so it’d all the same result in the end, or he’d have gone out for AD too. I just don’t see Russ as a bad consolation prize, his game is really growing. It’s all moot if we land Kawhi anyway, which hopefully is the case.
