    What if the Lakers wait on Kawhi and lose out on other important pieces? Then its a mosgov/deng type year.

    I still think we'd have to pay Russ $22-24 million/year. But if it is $20/year then we would still have $12 million in cap space + the room exception to fill out the rest of the team. Along with vet min contracts of course. Not a bad fall back plan at all.

    As far as Russ goes his best friend is on Phoenix and they just cleared his max. He's not coming for 20m if we decide we want him and other pieces. 24 he might for the chance of his basketball career unless he's stupid proud like Ty Lue and also afraid to bet on himself.

    Here’s a crazy possibility. The Rockets are trying to offload Eric Gordon, Clint Capela, and PJ Tucker to sign Jimmy Butler.

    If the Lakers strike out on the big name max free agents, we could do some sort of 3 way trade for Eric Gordon and Clint Capela (both absorbed into cap space), while offloading PJ Tucker to a 3rd team.

    Eric Gordon/Clint Capela both fill needs in SG and Center. We would still need to use the room exception to find a solution for a starting PG.
