I'm not a big Kyrie guy either. I think he's injury prone and a real headcase.

There's definitely a combination of players that I think can give us solid depth and scoring around our stars.

I'm not 100% sold on bringing back DLO although I'm a fan and thought we made the right choice when we drafted him. In his favor though is that this would be the first situation where he really has good leaders and better options on the floor. He will get a lot of looks as defenses focus on LeBron and AD. He's also a good passer so he should have no issues getting those guys the ball in positions to score as well.

DLO along with the right group of signing could work IMO.

I don't know about you guys but I'd take Kyrie in a heartbeat. His offense is unreal.

I’d take him after Kawhi, but his health is a concern at times.

If you hold a gun to my head and ask me D-Lo or Kyrie, I take Kyrie. BUT, like most situations, it's not a simple A vs B decision. If we are talking about Kyrie, that means we opened up the full 32 million (and of course it means Kawhi rejected us). But with 32 million, is D-Lo at maybe 25 and another solid role player at 7 worth more than Kyrie? What option would Kyrie be on this team? 2nd? 3rd? Can he provide that much more as a 3rd option than D'Lo? Would their gap as 3rd options be more significant than the help of a dead-eye shooter with the 7 million dollars we have left over?

That's exactly where I'm at in the debate. To me Kyrie being such a ballhog almost relegates AD to third option which is taking a lot off the table already. I don't see Kyrie being worth 30% more than DLo alongside LeBron and AD. Especially because the kid legit has ice in his veins and he's just as reliable when it comes to hitting clutch shots that LeBron opens up for him

Tough to carry a team in the playoffs as the first option in your first trip there. Russ was disappointing in the PO, but I’m not sure why we should think that would continue.

And @trodgers would be interested in the Lakers again. Look how much he's been around with only the hint of the possibility.

How was Kyrie his formative years before Lebron in comparison?

The gap between Kyrie and Dlo is immense, imo. Kyrie at his best approaches Steph Curry territory. And yes, I'd take Kyrie alone over Dlo + Danny Green.

Players who struggle in their first POs usually never figure it out.

I mean, look at Tatum by comparison. His success in his first POs proves he's NBA-Jesus.

At this point of their careers, sure. But D'Angelo is pretty much on par with where Kyrie was at in his 4th year, though Kyrie has maintained a consistent, better PER throughout his career.

I think adding Lebron and AD could drastically improve Dlo's efficiency as well.

I'd prefer D'Lo over Kyrie and over Kawhi, honestly. Hear me out.

We already have a max star that really should be subject to load management in Lebron. Add another one and things get dicey. Add a young, freshly-minted all-star with a chip on his shoulder and still have money for another decent free agent? That's a better plan, IMO.

Let Kawhi go to the Clippers and think he can pull off the same magic he did with Toronto. Not going to happen. He'll probably stay wit Toronto, at least for another couple years until he gets his 10 year chip, and THEN he'll want a max deal in L.A. at age 30, which if he is still healthy and his injury is not a degenerative as feared, he will probably get.

Kyrie is a no go for me. Even discounting the flat earth idiocy, which is astounding to me, he is a ball hungry guy and as stated by others in this thread, would diminish some things for AD and Lebron. Plus for some reason, I just don't like the guy. Great player, though.

I agree. I'd never seen those career trajectory comparisons before. Cool Stuff. The injury history is concern as well. They're both pretty bad defenders, but at least DLo's 6'5 and capable of playing decent D at times. You'd have to hide Kyrie like GS does steph. That and 4 years younger and $5mil cheaper.

DLo's really starting to remind me of Manu. He's a crafty, not uber quick combo guard who can create for himself and others. That's a great 3rd best player on a championship team.
