I have a question I've wondered about forever for all the armchair GMs. Perfect year to ask it with 4 possible top FAs on the Lakers radar. How hypothetically, since none of us have ever had to do it, does the conversation go with the next 3 targets of Kyrie, Butler or Walker / (insert name) and how do they let that time frame play out while waiting on Kawhi's decision?

Even skeptical me has to admit that @Mr. Rambis 's unsolicited from out of left field statement that Ballmer and the Clippers were paying for the Clippers friendly and anti Lakers spin that's been going on ..... seems like the most logical reason now for what we have been seeing, on why the Kawhi wants only the Lakers last year at this time would now with LeBron and AD to run with still be heavily favoring the Clippers if he leaves Toronto.

There never has been, has there, any formal description of Lee Jenkins's duties once Ballmer bought him away from the top sportswriting gig in the world with Sports Illustrated?

Two minor pieces of caution - some younger guys with less of a body of work might end up being undervalued. Guys like Russ who had a breakout year are actually pretty conservatively rated, as several of the stats weigh the last three years equally. Guys who were injured are likewise hedged. So, there could be a couple of guys massively out of place, and I don't claim that everyone with a higher rating than another guy is better. I do claim that based on their performances, these are pretty reliable indicators of their single-season value.

From a performance POV, Rose might not be a bad addition, but he has other issues.

After looking into it more, the Clippers rumor actually originated from Michael C Wright and Shams after we signed LeBron. Woj stayed steadfast that we were Kawhi's main goal. That was early July.

Then at some point that I cant find, Woj started to claim we weren't in consideration. It may be in November when the Clippers paid for Lee to join their staff.

Why would Woj knowingly report wrong information when his entire career is based on being the knowledgeable insider?

To be fair, his career is based off of breaking news. His opinion pieces and reports are often wrong. He was swearing up and down that LeBron to the Sixers was real literally the day we signed LeBron.

I get it. He scared the hell out of me with that tweet. But if he's just being paid to troll on the Lakers at this point I don't think he could respect his own work. It just seems... Odd?

I agree. I'm not sold he's on the Ballmer payroll, but something certainly is fishy with it. It could just be that both Klutch and the Lakers give Woj zero access. I believe he and Ramona will purposely fill the media narrative negatively for teams/players/agents/whatever who don't give them access. I think Woj has never had good Laker access (remember when he never got our picks tweeted 2-3 minutes before everybody else?). I think Ramona's access is now more limited than it's been in the past when she was used as Jeanie's mouthpiece in the Jim/Mitch debacle. So now the two of them have been constructing bad takes and developing a narrative for so long that it's just become taken as fact. I wonder if even they know the difference at this point. They've been saying Clippers for so long, if they're not in Ballmer's pocket then they may have forgotten that they made that rumor up.

No disrespect to Mr. Rambis, but before he got here, the was a small contingent of us wondering why the Jenkins hire and made up title. Then when articles were printed as to how brilliant & revolutionary the clips' stalkpering was towards Kawhi while there was crazy negative hype over Magic's tampering which involved a Kimmel wink and a 50k fine for Giannis staying in Milwaukee, then some of us started to look at the media a little more cautiously.

Now I'm not trying to rehash stuff, but at the time, most of y'all bought the crazy narratives and I understand why but this isn't new news. Y'all just happy we finally got AD...but they been s***ting on us and there's a huge double standard that some of y'all were feeding into, in particular with the cLips. I don't have receipts, but that s*** did happen this year...or was the cLip contingent laughing at us for delivering Zu to them something I dreamt up? Meanwhile cLips traded for and drafted a young center in Kabengele. Wild.

Anyways back to Jenkins, who is a San Diego native like that guy they're stalking, the cLip courtship began in spring of 2018....this was after Blake was traded and the narrative was more about the clips having no loyalty but at least Blake got a cLip4Life t-shirt. They had an image problem and when Jenkins finally came on board in the fall of 2018, the narrative was suddenly clips angling for 2max by first using Tobias to trade for Butler and then pairing Kawhi with him this summer. Instead the clips traded Tobias for cap space. Something we got s*** for by the media and most of our fans.

Anyways....here's more on Jenkins and his unique one of a kind title.

didn't see this posted anywere, but apparently if we spread the cap on at least 3 guys, we can actually get up to $33.8M. Not sure if that number requires throwing in Kuz or not, so any cap gurus feel free to clarify.

Click on this tweet below to see the rest of the thread that highlights what Bobby Marks thinks or what he's heard around the league of what kind of contract these players may get

Honesly, I'm a little surprised how low Collison, Reddick, and Ariza are projected of getting each year. I thought they would be slightly higher.
