    Elite Level?? In college.

I mean he may eventually in his career be this in certain instances but IMO there is nothing he has shown so far that makes me believe he'll be elite. Now if we can get him for a good price than why wouldn't we take a flyer on him. In any case it will be years from now before we would have a play to sign him because he's still on his rookie deal but this is how I feel now/this year.

I do agree with you that Sacramento has shown they can't develop players so maybe things change.

I will say this I would take WCS any day over Noel.

I think he can be elite at this level, IMO. Playing with a guard like Russell would maximize his impact. Playing for Luke helps, too.

C'mon now. Boooooo!! His defense will continue to improve. Julius, BTW, has always spoken highly of you.

I was joking. I think Julius is a tough case. No idea what to pay him to keep him around, long term.

Leave for 20 minutes and now we're trading Julius for Willie Cauley-Stein?

Did I come back to a different planet?

    Lakers homer wish here:

They all are loving playing under Luuke Skywalker so much and with each other so much that when comes time for their big money extensions .... major hometown discounts will be given by all of them. Like Dirk and like Timmy.

Right? They will .... won't they? :Magic Brows:

No. I am not talking straight up, but if it came with draft considerations, I'd consider it.

I like Julius, and I like the way he is developing, but I'd listen to deals involving Randle.

Didn't know you were joking, but between Mozgov's disappointing rim protection and lack of Julius defense (him and other young guys), I'd welcome a roster change.

Plus, I am a fan of WCS and what he can potentially be defensively.

Sac fan seem.to think he isnt a good defender nor a good rebounder because of his frame and considering Sac current coach is a defensive minded coach and has reduced wcs min severly, i would think that is the case

Really? That's interesting. He was projected to be a Tyson Chandler DJ type coming out; I haven't seen in the past 3 or so weeks.

Well i was editing my post but Sac current coach has severly reduced his minutes so i guess that must be the case since Jorger is supposedly a defesnive minded coach

sac has cousins and koufos ahead of WCS--it's not easy to justify big minutes over those guys, imo. if he were competing against black and mozgov, he might have earned more playing time. :speechless:

certainly wouldn't move randle for him, though.

I'd do it if they included a first-round draft pick and either a prospect or a second round draft pick.

Anyway, a more appropriate deal might be something like Lou and draft picks - our second rounders.

agree. sac could be a lou away from sneaking into the playoffs this year, and the lakers need a change of pace center pretty badly.

I think the biggest knocks on WCS are rebounding and heart (so say the Kings' boards).

He's not a good rebounder - averaged 9.0 per 36 last season and 6.7 per 36 this season. Last season's numbers are far more reliable, I think, because they came in 1412 minutes (vs. 359 this year). But 9 boards in 36 for a seven-foot Center isn't good.
His counterpart has posted huge rebound numbers, too: 12.8 per 36 last year and 12.1 per 36 this season.
He will lose the rebound battle, it seems. And perhaps the best explanation of that fact is a lack of heart.

Other than that, I think he's a good all-around player. He posted a 15.3 PER last season, had a 59% TS%, even rolled up 3.8 win shares as a rookie, added a 1.5 BPM, and a 1.0 VORP. By all these measures, he was an above average player in the NBA.

If you care more for traditional stats: he averaged 7.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.0 blocks, 0.7 steals, and 0.6 assists.
He was one of six rookies to average 5 points, 5 boards, .5 assists, .5 steals, .5 blocks. And he had the best FG% of the bunch.

I take what happens in Sacramento with a grain of sand. They're a mess, and the culture is toxic there. In a healthier place, he'd be that above average defender with a mostly w/in 10' of the basket game. Would be a good pairing with our other bigs.

Thank you, Trodgers. You're research and insight is much appreciated.

We need defensive players. That needs to be the priority this summer.

WCS would be a welcome addition for this team. If heart is an issue I believe Luke can change that considering the job he has done with Nick Young. Lakers can get away with the center not rebounding on a consistent basis, at least he can give the middle some defensive identity and players would have to think about him. Tyson Chandler didn't really become who he was for a while.

At this point they need someone to play center who can move and defend. Rebounding can be done with Randle and the rest of the guys. Lakers need some presence in the middle and with Zubac next year, a WCS and Zubac front rotation could be a difference maker.

Trading for WCS with anyone but the young guys would be welcomed. They need to do something.
