The funny thing if we do end up would DLo is that we basically traded him for the cap space to end up signing him.

I always hear that we had to trade him to dump Mozgov in order to free the cap for Lebron. But I don’t think that’s actually true. That trade ended up freeing the second max slot. You can argue that Lebron wouldn’t have come without that flexibility, but if at the end of the day we still essentially just signed Russell with that money we freed up it would be some interesting irony.

But am I missing something? Has anyone outside of Arye Abraham mentioned anything about Russell? I know Windhorst did, but I almost feel like the way he mentioned it he was just referring to the buzz created by Arye.

Why is Dlo so much higher than Kemba?

Because DLO is 6 years younger, 5" taller, and $5M cheaper.

Sorry guys but I'd rather have Darren Collison or some s*** at $10 mil than DLo at $27 mil. Idk about you guys but in the playoffs I saw someone that was absolutely hopeless vs a switching defense and was a liability to the point that he wasn't even closing some games for the Nets.

He's still young but he only got on the all-star team as a reserve in the East because Oladipo was out for the season. He's not a real star imo. I always liked his personality and tbh he's one of those guys that if you don't believe in clutch, just watch him always come thru with big shots and he'll make you a believer. But I can't choose that caliber of player over depth on this team. He's just not athletic enough on both ends of the floor. And realistically Caris Levert goes back to being the best player on the team by the start of next season.

No to DLo. Sorry. That ship has sailed. My preference hasn't changed: 1. Kawhi 2. Kyrie 3. Butler. I am on the fence about Kemba - might be too pricey for what we get. Might be better to go for two or more cheaper FA's than all chips in on Walker. But those top 3 I'm still all in for.

Not just because I still think you would have money left over. But if I had to choose? Yeah I would rather have those 3 guys. They all play defense and can hit the 3.
Im not a fan of DLO and im also leaning towards getting several high level role players than a max guy.

Any of those and we are set. Lakers have Lebron and AD and Kuzma coming up. One more top notch baller even a Tier 2 guy will be huge. I am not worried one bit. Lakers are gonna get someone that will make a difference.

I wonder if Brogdon, Beverly, and collison could be had for Dlos $27mil? Add bullock and Caruso and you’ve got great backcourt depth.

    Rather have Ariza/Bradley/Collison over D-Lo?

    Put the pipe down.

D-Lo is 23. An all star. Improved every year in the league. Is a PERFECT fit with LeBron/AD/Kuz....and did I mention he's only 23 and fits our "After LBJ retires" timeline?

Oh...we also drafted him and then dumped him like idiots...and we are lucky that he developed in the right way in BKN cuz I'm not sure he would have if he were still here.

So...to answer your question...I take him in a heartbeat on a cheaper max (which is all we can afford right now anyway) and then fill out the rest of the roster with room exception and vet's min. I'm sure we can find an SG with the room exception

Yet he is still a very poor defender, doesn't get to ft line at all basically, and not the most efficient guy.

I like the fact that if we have 32.5M, we can sue an extra 5.25M on another contributor. That is his biggest case over Kemba to me in terms of this window. Yes, I know he is younger. But you got to win now and Kemba is better NOW.

DLO was an all star b/c Jimmy was snubbed and no Dipo. And that was in the EAST.

I am worried even about maxing Jimmy. Yes he is a good defender and 2nd ball handler. But, he is not a good shooter. Shooting worries me. In the finals we say GS didn't have enough shooting and Toronto had a lot of guys who could shoot it.

    Because of that,

    1. Kawhi
2a and 2b. Kyrie/Beverly(10-12M) and Lamb(8-12M). Possibly another small contributor, depending on what we do with cap and their cost.
    3a and 3b. Kemba/DLO and 5.25 towards another guy
    4. Jimmy

Are people completely ignoring the fact that we shipped D-Lo’s a** out in a pure salary dump and said some pretty unforgivable things in the process? It’s not like we don’t still have the same GM and ownership. You can’t come back from that.

Hmm... stats clearly show that DLO is just as efficient as Kemba from the field, and Kemba is a bigger liability on defense.

    Kemba --- DWS: 1.9 DBPM: -1.7 eFG%: 51.1%
    DLO --- DWS: 2.6 DBPM: -0.5 eFG%: 51.2%

Kemba has no room to grow whereas DLO is still 23 with a much higher ceiling. DLO is 6'5 and can defend multiple positions. And he's $5M cheaper, meaning we can sign someone like Danny Green with the leftover cash. This is a no-brainer imo.
