If we get Kawhi or Butler and have the perimeter covered, I could see bringing back McGee and Rondo, then bring in Rose, Melo, and VC. Three very attainable vets.

I think Melo is a lock. The only reason he wasn't here last year was roster space and now the roster is wide open.

If we get Kyrie, this will be one of the most entertaining teams of all time. His game has so much showmanship in it lol. I propose if that goes through we dub this next team The Prime-time Lakers as a nod to Showtime

Unless not resigning Lopez was a Magic thing, I’m pretty sure he won’t be coming back after the way we snubbed him for McGee.

Let’s say that we execute the trade on the 6th and AD waives his kicker so we’re at $27 million.

Could we sign a max player to a 1+1 deal at $27 million with the agreement that they’d opt out the following summer at which point we’d go over the cap with their bird rights to give them a full max? Or do bird rights need more time to take effect?

That’d probably depend on the agent and how bad they want to “ring chase”.

Still think Kawhi signs a 1+1 in Toronto, Kyrie heads to Brooklyn, which leaves Kemba who has said he would take less to return to Charlotte.

I'm wondering if LeBron has communicated with Kemba...

I mean that would be a major factor too, but I’m also just not sure if that would work out under the salary cap rules. Like if we have a player for only one year, I feel like we’d still have to have cap room to re-sign them the following season but I’m not sure.

There is no way we give up that type of draft capital without some wink wink type assurances.

Initially, my full off-season idea was go for:

    Ariza
    Beverley
    Seth Curry
    Pau
    Ben McLemore
    Marcus Morris
    JJ Redick
    Hassan Whiteside

And it was on the grounds that all these people either shot 35% or higher from the 3-Pt Line. Or had a really good FG %.

So, if it was me, that was/is the direction I thought was worth going.

Again, I’m still all for Kemba, Kawhi, Irving, or Butler....I just felt that maybe the advantage was going more for role players and a bench. I know that splitting up 27-32 million between that many people is hard, but I mean....we pulled off the trade. Maybe Pelinka and Jeanie could really get it done.

Also, I was still saying resign Rondo, McGee, and KCP.

Again, maybe this isn’t the right direction, but it seemed better to me for some random reason.

I wonder if there is still a 3rd team in play somewhere or something.

Does it seem crazy that there was so much emphasis on a 3rd or 4th team, just for that to go so quiet and just be Lakers and Pelicans in this deal?

Man, if a pick still came this year or something, that’d be awesome. Or Beal somehow got worked out, which is moot now, that’d be cool also.

I like this direction of player besides: KCP and Rondo.

I'd also include Wayne Ellington (Very Good Shooter) and Danny Green (Elite 3&D), and Aminu who I like.

I'd like to fill the back end of the rotation with guys like Caruso and Jonathan Williams...

Did everyone on here really go MEH on Rondo? I thought he did fine, but maybe I didn’t see the full picture as much.

Also, I would have figured that Rondo would be worth teaming up with Davis again. Again, maybe I missed something and didn’t pay as much attention as you guys did.

Woj said as of now the expectation is for deal to complete July 6th, but that could change.

My guess is that we’ll go into free agent pitches to max players on July 1st with a max offer. If one of them bites, then we have a deal with New Orleans to delay finalizing the trade. If we can’t get an agreement with any of them, then we finalize the trade on the 6th.

I'm just not sure how he fits, IMO. I mean: he can be a back-up, but I just think he's a net negative defensively, can't really play off-ball effectively, etc. Go get me a Seth Curry or Patrick Beverly; I'll be much happier.

Quote the wrong person. My bad...

Yeah, to be honest I kinda just fell in line with the mob mentality against Rondo, but I never saw anything too egregious from him. His defense was subpar, but he actually shot well and seemed to be a good teammate and locker room influence. The only negative was that naturally he took away playing time from Lonzo.

I would be happy to have him back, but mainly as a back-up for the vet’s minimum to add depth behind Kyrie or Kemba.

I could live with that. Role the dice. Either get a 3rd player or shoot for some role players and do the deal on the 6th.

I’d have to imagine the picks, like everyone is saying, was agreed to as a way to say “Scratch our back and we’ll scratch your’s” because yeah....that seems like a little too much power for NO just to NOT go and be able to get a 3rd Star as big as they’re talking according the Woj and everyone.

Something is up. Someone has some plan and is really looking to make some things happen. It’ll be interesting to see what happens.
