Fair. Also, I didn’t realize that Dwight opted in, so yeah....he’s not a free agent. Oh well.

I don’t hate the idea of a third star, mostly I’m worried about having a decent bench after that. Obviously you can build a big lead, but when LeBron, AD, and TBA need breaks, you need others to keep it going. I don’t know who easily you could entice with Vet Mins to come outside of the like of people such as Ariza, Pau, and Rondo, and maybe someone else.

But you need more. And like you said, preferably younger than older. This is why I’m curious about going for a list of people instead of just the 3rd Star.

Maybe it doesn’t matter because of AD and LeBron. Maybe it does. I’m not sure.

I like our chances no matter what, I just want to be sure that we have a way to back things up outside of the star power.

You can have Kobe, Shaq, Malone, and Payton, but as soon as someone gets hurt and things don’t work out as planned....it all falls apart.

(PS-It’s weird to be back here, since I haven’t posted on here for a long while. Kind of nice too though)

Just wanted to chime in and say that seeing Pau in PnG even as a bench warmer would make me so happy.

This is wide open right now. You know people will want to join. Veterans too. They will come off the bench for peanuts, just to play with Bron/AD/3rd star.

If LeBron wants Kawhi, Nike needs to give the Klaw logo back. I want KL because it knocks out a direct competitor for the title which is any team that has Kawhi. Hegemony, that's the goal. LWO is back!

    Good. Stay in CHA Kemba...
If we can't get Kawhi, Kyrie or Jimmy, i rather sign few decent guys than throw 30mil Kemba's way.

Is anyone else slightly confused how we fill out the roster if we sign a 3rd max slot? We’ll only have 6 players on the team.

You can buy one or two second round picks. Then you load up on ring chasers.

Much easier to get these vets and to get them to take a pay cut when you sign that 3rd max.

I think that is our best route this summer. Too many teams have too much money, so a lot of these 2nd-4th tier guys are going to get overpaid. Get the max then go bargain shopping with vets and maybe rookie or two.

If we wait till August to make a deal complete so that we have a max slot still to offer in July, then depending on if AD waives his trade kicker, our Zo/Bi/Hart/signed 4th package aggregates to about 25m and this allows us to bring a max incoming amount of 31.4m, messing we'll be able to take in 4.3m more in salary in addition to AD's 27.1m contract.

More time for the deal to go through gives the Pels more time to shop the 4th and through that 3rd team, LA can get another asset (I believe Mr. Rambis said that Kurt was trying to do just that in a potential 3teamer with Phx broke that fell apart).

So more time gains us potential to bring back 4.3m more in contracts and gains us access to expand this deal to involve more teams (and their players).

Combine that with a 4.8m room exception, unlimited minimum vets and about 5.5m in cash to acquire 2nd round picks and that gives us a few more bullets to round out the roster.

Ugh as much as I enjoy watching Kemba I don't think he fits with LBJ and I have height prejudice since he is only 5'9 and Jimmy Butler blocks him all the time like Lebron blocks Jimmy.

That doesn’t bode well for McGee, or does it not matter. Both wouldn’t make their value.

Uh Kareem... Kemba is at least 6' tall. He's more or less like Derek Fisher.

Posted my roster filler FA targets in the AD thread when this was all just a hopeful hypothetical:

    Get 3rd max and then:

Shooters: Danny Green, Redick, then Bojan are my first three calls after we lock a star FA. Not likely, but worth the attempt.

If you whiff there, I offer the money to Brook, followed by Wesley Matthews.

Next the veteran train: Rose, Crawford, VC, Carroll, A. Johnson, T. Gibson, Nene, Robin Lopez, Thabo, Dudley.

Cheaper shooters/floor spreaders: Seth Curry, Cook, Kaminsky, Fredette

Klutch city: Joseph, Morris brothers, Lyles, Koufos.

(No where else to put him, so he gets his own category) If money dries up for teams and he's still out there for cheap: Vonleh.

I like that analysis, JSM. Some good role players on the list, I’m sure some of them would love to ring chase and “play with friends”. That seems to be important in this NBA. I’d love if we could get Seth, and Rose joining would not surprise me at all. Can Vince still play? I mean, he can shoot and is probably good for 6-7 PPG, right? Rose looked really good to me last season, much better than usual.

Honestly to me the list is Kawhi, Butler, Kyrie, and Kemba in whatever order people want. If we can’t get those then split up our money among the solid vets out there with good flexible deals that can be moved later on if necessary. Avoid overpaying.

I'd like Vince for the minimum. He'd be a great influence on the team and he isn't totally washed.
