Figured it would make sense to have a thread dedicated to free agency. Somewhere we can discuss rumors, cap scenarios, and free agent options we'd prefer.

So after the AD trade, we are in play to possibly pull the trade in 30 days which would give us ~$32 million in cap which I believe is enough for a max for most of the stars? But as Marks says, I'm not sure why the Pelicans would go with that, unless it was already agreed to and part of the reason we had to give up the additional picks. Pels are trying to remain competitive so it's not in their best interest to increase our chances at adding another max player.

I still feel like we could convince one of the lower-tier max guys like Kemba or Jimmy to sign for a bit less, but I'm also fine with the scenario of splitting the remaining cap space amongst role players. I love the idea of pretty much everyone McMenamin lists at the beginning of the video above: Seth Curry, Brook Lopez, Bojan Bogdanovic.

I would assume this was absolutely agreed to be completed after free agency, I could swear at least one of the people in the know on SC last hour said as much. Agreed on the names McMenamin brought up as well, I’d be thrilled with any of them.

Everyone’s talking like it HAS to wait until at least after July 1st for some reason, not sure why.

I think the question is still whether they wait to make it official 30 days after signing the #4 or not.

I like you too Jimmy, but Kawhi and maybe Kyrie are first in line.

Lol, he wouldn’t be my top choice, but I’d move onto him real quick if we got no indication that Kawhi or Kyrie were interested in us. What this might show to me though, aside from the obvious that NBA players enjoy seeing moves like this go down as it’s entertaining, is that players like Butler are watching and seeing how serious we are about winning right NOW. Like Doc said in the AD thread, Ainge had a chance to trade for guys like Butler to try and win NOW, but he held onto draft picks like they were gold, and now the C Bags are f***ed.

I would have been iffy on a max for Kemba or Jimmy if they were our only acquisition. I don’t think they’re the #2 guy on a championship team.

I would absolutely love either of them as our third option though if that’s what we had to settle for, even if it took a max to make it happen.

Yeah, first choice is the third max; Kawhi, Jimmy, Kemba, Kyrie are my preference in that order.

If you don't like any of those guys, then we start looking at shooters and athletes...

Can’t stand Beverly, but I probably take him if he came here for the vet min. Probably wants more than that, but you never know who might go ring chasing.

Beverly hates the Lakers. We drafted him in 09’ and traded his rights for cash considerations and future 2nd round pick. I read a quote that he always wants to destroy the lakers.

Oh that’s right, yeah, I don’t really see it, things change though, especially with Lonzo gone who he seemed to hate. Still a lot of decent talent out there this summer

I'm wondering if Kawhi comes if he can convince Danny to come with? :)

I’d still take Green although he did struggle multiple games in the playoffs.
