yeah, i've been on the "touchable" train since day one, but both is too high a price to pay for anything but all-nba. for an all-nba-er in his prime (AD, kawhi, klay, durant), you can have anyone not named lebron. short of that, and it's a negotiation. and i'm taking one of my top two assets off the table at the outset.

beal for ingram/kcp/filler makes a lot of sense to me, and should to washington. problem is that aside from wall and beal, their talent is at the 3 spot (porter, oubre).

had we not cut ties with deng, we could have gone deng/kcp/2nd rounder for wall--i mentioned this in the summer, knowing the washington situation was not a good one. i think next to lebron, wall might be dissuaded from the james harden fitness regimen and re-commit to being a top-notch nba player. plus, the lakers have already basically conceded that they'll be struggling in four years, as lebron will be outpacing his salary by a good bit by then, anyway.

that ship has sailed, though, so beal it is. i'm not cap-space crazy, but there's no reason to eat wall's salary at this point. had it been in tandem with shedding deng's corpse without the lame cap hit for the next three years, i'd have considered it.

Beal might be worth it... scores over 20ppg and can shoot the 3. We can’t touch other WIZ contracts.

have to consider the full body of work, not just a couple great games. walker's good. i advocated pursuing him prior to his recent scoring outbursts. but he's not "sell everyone" good, mostly because he's not a two-way player.

Yeah, I don't think it's a great deal either, but BI and Zo plus a collection of youth is almost necessary for a Kemba deal.

Good catch Doc on the 18m caphold, but dude makes 12m this year so we can send as little as 7m in aggregated salary to close a deal (BI/Zu).

Schwartz reps both BI and Kemba to broker this type of deal. BI played college ball out there and N.Carolina is home for him. Mitch was here to draft both BI and Zu, so I'm sure he values them. The Bugs would send Kemba out of the East and seeing how Kemba is essentially an expiring deal, they wouldn't value our 1yr expiring deals as much as our young guys.

Also consider that if Kemba makes any All-Nba team this year (and he's projected to), he'll be eligible for a supermax that no one other than the Bugs can offer. BI is also eligible for a designated rookie max extension deal this coming summer (although his play doesn't warrant one as of yet).

So how does it impact us next summer?

Let's assume we throw in Moe in with BI/Zu, then next summer's team salary is Bron, Zo, Kuz, Hart, Svi, Bonga, Deng dead cap, Kemba caphold and 4.5m five man incomplete roster charge = 80.3m; 28.7m in cap space. Not quite Kawhi type max and not close to KD's.

So we would have to also include Zo in the BI/Zu/Moe package to create enough cap for Kawhi's max, but still not enough for KD. Is a 28yo going on 29 Kemba worth the price of admission?

So like Abeer said, we would have to trade a good majority of our youth along with BI/Zo to clear enough cap for a Kawhi max...but we would have spared Kuz, Hart, Bonga and Svi...so there's that.

Bron, Kawhi, Kemba, Kuz, Hart, Svi, Bonga... Is that good enough as the base for a title team? Technically we could flip Kemba/Kuz/picks for AD later...

Anyone think Kemba Walker might have something to offer next season or at the deadline? Especially if we strike out with Leonard and KD?

It’ll be all smiles until Kemba gets blasted defensively by Lilliard, CP3 and Steph in the playoffs.

I guess it's nice to have the Lakers back in the headlines and associated with every rumor in town. I guess.

I like Kemba but I also wouldn’t get rid of everyone for him.

I’m more for trying to get a good player for a bargain from the Wizards.

@vasashi17 proposed a good deal a little while back.

I’d also be interested in getting Beal at a discount but That’s tricky long term.

More names will become available. No need to rush into anything now.

But I agree that everyone outside of LeBron should be “touchable”

EtG, we were discussing Markieff Morris and Jeff Green at that time. We could trade Lance/Zu for Markieff/Green or trade just for Markieff using Beas/Zu...but then with that extra roster spot opening up we could go get Noah or even hoodieMelo... And that's when the horde came and it all went to s***. Haha.

A few things: Jeff Green was involved in antagonizing Wall along with coach Brooks, so you know he's unhappy there. Also Markieff is dead last in defensive rating so far...yikes! But look at the rest of the bottom and you'll see 4 other Wiz joining him there... meanwhile, his twin plays for the league leaders in defense in Boston...so wouldn't you think this is a simple case of greener pastures?

Mitch should show us some love after what he did to us. He should give Kemba to us like Jerry when he gave us Pau.

    Meanwhile....

An anonymous Wizards player on John Wall: "We love Scott Brooks. Love playing for him. He just can't coach John. John just walks all over him and it frustrates everybody. The way he plays is impossible to play with. We have so many guns, not enough bullets."
