Leave it up to Sac for ultimate dumba**ery...

Per Kevin O'Conner on The Ringer podcast:

    Sac had history with Anderson...

Or they could go this route...

Either way...Deng hasn't been brought up and that possibly means a dump isn't imminent. Maybe the Kang can (hopefully) bump his value up.

ATL went from a full roster of 15 to 14 with this move. They also open up about 9m in cap space now. They didn't have to decide on fully guaranteeing dude's 1.3m till 1/10/19, so why the urgency to waive him now? Looks like a move is coming. Melo/Shroe deal? Dengdump? (Deng/Zu/picks for Dedmon works)

No one wants to help the Lakers. Everyone else can dump their players that are high paid with highly protected picks or even second round picks. It took us D'angelo Russell (2nd pick in the draft) to move Mozgov. I hope we don't give up young talent to move Deng. Just stretch him next year if no one buys and we're getting Kawhi for sure

Whoa. Now that's a different one. Good little swing here by Philly after Bejilinca turned away from them for more cash in Sacramento.

So OKC essentially did a Melo for Deng swap, but Shroe has more committed money (47m vs 37m) over more years (3 vs 2). Not to mention, Shroe has some off the court mess with the authorities which can impact his immediate playing time/stock in a follow up deal. Add in Luwawu-Cabarrot's contract and its nearly as much as Deng's salary would have been this year.

OKC saved about 72M in taxes and salary with this move for only this year (150m in taxes w/Melo's 28m vs 89m in taxes w/Shroe/Cabarrot's 17m), but will be in the repeater tax next season, as well as the following year. So like khmrp said, its more of a deferment in payment.

Btw, Shroe with Russ in the backcourt...what an awesome pairing (said noone).

When your point guard tries to be both the shooting guard and point guard, there is no backcourt or offensive scheme.

If Russ could pass to himself, he would.

I am so sick and tired of small market teams helping other small market teams....the fact that ATL helped the Thunder this much is disturbing.

Good thing we got LeBron...we'll have to just help ourselves from here on out...everyone is trying to rape us and Rob spoke the truth when he said that teams just don't want to help us when we're at the top of the food chain (and at that time, we weren't...with LeBron, now we are).

Philly is capped out and has 15 on the roster. As it stands, they have 42m in cap space next summer by trading for Muscala's expiring deal. They don't have roster spots left but do have the room exception still available.

Also ATL essentially dumped Shroeder (3 years 47m) for an expiring (Melo) and it cost them a protected 2022 1st rounder that can convert to 2 2nd rounders.
Toronto essentially dumped DeRozan (3 years 82m) for an expiring (Kawhi/Green) and it cost them a protected 2019 1st rounder that can convert to 2 2nd rounders.
Heck even Mozzy (2 years 33m) got dumped for an expiring (Dwight) and it only cost 2 2nd rounders to do it.

Now obviously I'm not saying Deng is that type of athlete, but he is a salary dump on only 2 years 37m...so maybe our dump on another team for an expiring in return won't cost us multiple 1st rounders...rather it could only cost us potentially multiple 2nd rounders.

We need to move him to Sac asap....we could wait till the trade deadline in Feb, but why? Go get the expiring deals of ZBo, Shump, McLemore and/or Koufos (who is a Klutch client and a center) and give them a protected 1st (most likely converted to 2 2nd rounders) for their troubles.
