IF Magic/Rob can sell Randle on that QO opt, we could always say we'll pay a few mill more than what has been offered this yr and of course bird rights raise is alot better than going somewhere else with the raise. Also while I dont expect it, I would hope/think Pg/James take a small hair cut on their 1st yr salary IF it meant that would result in retaining Randle. James should at least know by know he'll need all the help he can get, I expect pg to do a 2+1 anyways as he'll get more money on the 2nd contract when he qualifies for the 10yr vet max.

I agree on George, but LeBron I expect to take the full max. There's a decent shot this is his last contract.

As for the rest: that's tampering 100% :D It happens league wide, but if the Lakers made an overtly obvious promise the way Houston did with Chris Paul, we'd be fined and they'd bar us from re-signing Randle.

I disagree, players of Hart’s production making 1.6 mil are incredibly valuable when you expect to have a team with 2, or even 3 stars on it. On an equal contract, sure Randle is more important, but they’re not equal contracts, we have to jump through hoops to make Randle fit if LeBron and George sign.

come on real...a few mill on james contract is pennies to him, if he came to lal i have no doubt he'll earn 20-30mill more from other avenues, new jersey sales, movies, business ventures, more commercials

Doesn't really matter though. This is the franchise that gave Kobe 25 million before it was easy to make that much money. And they did it after an Achilles tear. We're not about to approach FAs asking them to take less. And LeBron is coming here expecting to be the man, expecting to be the King of LA. The King of LA doesn't come here for a few pennies left. He'd say waive whatever kids on the end of the bench we need to waive so we can give him the contract he (and George) need.

I don't disagree on Hart's contract being a great piece and of value, but I'd still include him if it meant we got to keep Randle with PG, LBJ, Kuz, Ball, and Ingram instead of losing him

So....either we're totally screwed or both woj and Ramona have lost credibility. Terrible news if that report is true.

Marc Spears/Marc Stein reported that KD was almost a lock to go back to OKC; never happened.

We'll have to wait for July...

I love ya, guys. But I'm out until after July. I can't take reading all these differing reports.

Yeah that is very bad news. It indicates possible pressure from Lebron’s camp that he’s not coming without another star (meaning they’re not confident PG13 is coming).

And then the report that we’re willing to absorb salary via trade to get a first rounder and sweeten the Kawhi offer means we’re not confident in PG13 either.

Or hopefully that report is originating from sources on San Antonio’s side and they’re just trying to put pressure on us.

I’m scratching my head. That’s not what I would call a report. It’s a speculative “message” article. Some team (either OKC or the Spurs or both are funneling the message through Woj. Magic & Rob are sitting in the big chair. They are not going to blink and act out of desperation. This “report” doesn’t concern me at all. LeBron is coming. PG is coming. The only question is Kawhi.

It makes me think the Spurs want to get something done quickly if I'm honest. It makes me think the Spurs would like to get something done in a timeframe where Julius Randle is still on the table, where we haven't signed anybody yet, and they can try to get the most assets out of us that they can.

But the fact they're doing this now tells me they've struggled hard to get any real offers for Kawhi. Other teams have made pitches, but they've been soft as Kawhi has maintained he wants to be a Laker. Now the Spurs are bringing the Lakers to the table and saying, "lets get this talk started, but don't try to give us any bull****".

Things could move quickly from here. If Magic and Rob play their cards right, we could get all three this summer.

Woj and Ramona both have the same kind of credibility. They have never been investigative journalists. They have connections and they write about whatever their connections feed them. Nothing has changed. We just have to discern which connection fed them their most current info and why.

Call their bluff and see who blinks first. We don't have to trade for Kawhi.

    He'll come to us.

PG's stupidity will cost us Bron. We'll trade 3/4 of our youth for injured Kawhi, wo will never become a player he once was. Magic steps down next summer and we're back to tanking...

You know Cuban is up to something...maybe a deal fell apart (DJ?) and that is why they opened up the cap space again for free agency. Or they opened up cap right now to complete a pre-free agency deal...

Dallas is now sitting on 20M in cap space...
