You could sign George instead of Lebron in that instance. A healthy Kawhi is a definite first option and probably better than Lebron over the next 5 years.

    You could go

    Lonzo / MLE
    George / Green
    Kawhi / Hart
    Randle / Frye
    Lopez / Zubac

But, I think Lebron + Kawhi is better than Kawhi + George. The first scenario you have two MVP caliber guys.

I like the perimeter defense that Kawhi + George brings.

With Lebron in the mix not so much.

anyone after 15 years will be playing selective defense, so it won't get anything but worse. If we want to play D as a team, we'll be hiding Bron til the playoffs, and he'll try to turn it up a notch I'm sure. Otherwise, with the age and mileage, he'll be pacing himself.\

We've all seen what it's like trying to hide someone on D like IT, and it's no fun to watch. With Bron, then you have to watch him blame someone for not covering his arse. I'm glad some of you are more ready to embrace that than I am. So. Not. Excited.

Would pay $100 to be a fly. On the wall in rooms with Magic, Rob and Luke during their retreat. Dangerous mission though ... could get one of these ....

Elsewhere, I suggested: BI, Kuz, Zubac and #25 for Kawhi. I got blowback that it was too much, namely for a player the Lakers *could* sign in 2019 - and I hate the idea of giving up Kuz as much as anyone - but objectively speaking, a healthy Kawhi will command a King's Ransom and if the Lakers want to acquire him now rather than gamble on waiting until next season where he might not even be available if he just re-signs where he is, it'd cost the aforementioned King's Ransom.

Lakers would certainly have the cap space to do a hold on Randle to sign PG13or Lebron and then go over the cap to sign Randle.
Keep Lopez for the room exception

    Ball + Kawhi + PG13/Lebron + Randle + Lopez
    Oh my

all he has to say is he wants to play for the Lakers in order to lower the asking price :)

no one else will give up a king's ransom for a 1 year rental

Sure, IF he actually said that. I don't know that he would screw the Spurs franchise that way by putting them in that position. He may be at odds with their medical team but he still has high regard for the front office, his teammates and certainly Pops.

People were saying the same thing last year about PG13 and all he needed to do was say he only wanted to play for the Lakers to lower the asking price. He never did. He gets traded to OKC and now we're hoping he signs with the Lakers versus the inevitability that a lot of people assumed it to be last summer and opposed giving up anything for him (or something piddling like Clarkson and a 2nd round pick).

Name another superstar who was traded for a kings ransom.

I can’t think of any. The trading team is always taking back less value, and not even as much potential value as you’re suggesting here.

It’ll either be way less than BI+Kuz, or the trade won’t happen.

Looking at SA's "bad" contacts... Maybe they're looking to do some dumping of their own and we certainly have the cap space to accommodate it.

I see our old buddy Pau sitting at 16.8M next season and a non-guaranteed 16M for the 19/20 season.

IF Kawhi forces his way to LA, we would have to give up some value, but relatively less if they choose to dump salary on us as well. If we can't find a 3rd team to take on Deng, then Pau + Kawhi for S&T Jules + Kuz.

It ain't Dallas, but it's still Texas and if Jules gets $20M per, uncle sam ain't coming to take his share there. We know Buford has a hard on for Kuz.

With Pau, you bring back a fan favorite, essentially on an expiring deal. He becomes BLo insurance and if BLo stays, Pau's contract is a great one to flip since it's not fully guaranteed. We get Kawhi and his bird rights, so we can still pay him and his camp alot more than if he just walked on as a free agent in 2019.

If nothing for Deng pops up, our team salary with the trade would be 75M leaving 26M in cap space. George's max is 30.3M. If dude doesn't want to come without getting the max, then stretch Deng and open up 37M in cap space. That obviously fits in George's max...But can also fit in Bron's 35.6M max. We got a few million to spare in cap space plus the room exception. Round out the roster...

For the record, I don't want to give anybody their true max this summer. Pay these dudes on the back end once we're over the cap.

Ah... What does it matter... Thanos is coming...

King's Ransom was just a subjective term I threw out there, let's not overly focus on that phrase. I personally don't consider BI + Kuz to be that anyhow. They are young talent with upside and that has been traded for superstars multiple times in the past. My point is a healthy Kawhi will land a lot in return.

There have been fairly significant returns for superstars in terms of landing packages involving high upside young talent + pick(s). Mind you we need to consider the years these trades went down and the value those players had at the time. MIN got a load from BOS for KG, led by Al Jefferson coming off a 16ppg 11rpg season, three young talents in Green, Gomes Telfair and two 1st round picks, one of which became a #6 pick. DEN got a lot from NY for Melo, including three guys averaging at least 15ppg that season in Chandler/Gallinari/Felton, two young bigs in Koufos/Mozgov, 1 1st round pick and 1 swap option (which led to two lottery picks) and 2 2nd round picks. Chris Paul netted Eric Gordon coming off a 22.3ppg season, a starting C in Kaman, a player just drafted #8 the year earlier and a 1st round pick that everyone know would be lottery (became #10). Deron Williams landed Derrick Favors who was the #3 pick the year earlier, Devin Harris averaging 15ppg 7.6rpg that season and two 1st round picks (one of which became #3). OR we can just go all the way back to 1975 where the Lakers gave up Elmore Smith, Brian Winters and guys who were just drafted #2 and #8 two weeks prior - and these guys went on to to be the 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th best players for the Bucks the following season. There are numerous other examples of a star player being traded for a package built mainly around solid quantity.

I understand the Lakers wouldn't likely trade BI + Kuz. The key point is that the Spurs wouldn't settle for less.
As such, a trade wouldn't happen and the Lakers likely see another PG situation where Kawhi is traded elsewhere and they have to hope they have a shot at him via free agency in 2019. Assuming this isn't all a moot point and he doesn't just end up signing for the super max with SA when all is said and done.

Can you zoom in at all with or without processing it to not break up and get Shaq himself to look closer in size to him below? Keeping head and maybe sacrificing lower and left and right framing? Maybe even a little slower to extend his look? In your spare time? :D Deserves to be larger. When someone else really needs in one's own opinion a WTF to what they just said. As always no disrespect intended and none will be taken around here .... As a for instance OXs take that Jeanie is not cute and has no charisma.

The team that gave a player 50 million after tearing his achilles doesn't want to pay another player 25+ per season? Learning has occurred.

    The title should hedge more.

The Lakers might maybe consider possibly not offering Boogie a deal maybe possibly potentially.
