Boogie contingency just might have opened up. If only one of Bron/George come on board, this dude would work out great defensively since he makes for a near perfect rim protector. Next year is essentially his final year since he had an out option for 2019/20. The Heat world be wise to get whatever they can for him before he bounces in free agency...Deng, picks, Zu, TB, Hart?

How bout Deng, 2 firsts, Zubac, Bryant? Why so quick with Hart as well? Hell throw in a 2nd rounder.

He’d be an idiot to opt out of 27 million dollars for one year, though. He’s not exactly tearing it up with his 14 and 11. Minutes are down from last year so his production is too (17 and 14 last year), but still, I can’t see anyone giving him that much money if he opts out.

Guy is a j******...I'd rather have a center who can shoot threes and beloved by teammates and staff...Hmmm where to find that guy?

Agree. Thought about that after taking exception to casually including Hart in the deal on top of good future talent in Zu and Bryant plus the picks. And we could retain Brook without giving all that up for far less money even if just for another year. And he's a much finer offensive player.

So it’s looking like there is a real disconnect between the spurs and kawhi right now. I’m sure they’ll work it out since Leonard is a legitimate top 5 player in this league and MVP candidate when playing.

But, on the off hand, if for some reason he wants to go to a bigger market. I’d be keen to trade Kuzma, Hart and S&T Randle for him. Or if they elect, I’d give up Ingram and S&T Randle.

Sign up Lebron to pair with Leonard and we are a top contender.

    Lonzo
    Hart
    Leonard
    Lebron / Kuzma
    Lopez

    Or

    Lonzo
    Ingram
    Leonard
    Lebron
    Lopez

I think that second team is ridiculous.

I’d have to see Leonard play before trading for him. If his injury is so serious it keeps him out an entire season, or has been misdiagnosed and mishandled, that’s concerning. And if it’s mental, that might be just as bad. Obviously you trade for him if he’s healthy and available, but not if he’s damaged goods. Not like he’d be the first. Roy, Rose, Bender, possibly IT, to name a few.

I don’t think he’ll play this season. So if things boil over with the spurs and he becomes available it’ll only be this summer because someone will trade for him.

Either way it’s a franchise altering move - for the positive or negative depending on how he recovers.

There is a possibility that AD might wanna leave the pelicans if they can't make the playoffs and boogie signs elsewhere. In that case trading Hart/Randle/Kuzma would be a good option.

Regarding the Whiteside comments to his coach and team:

So glad we never got this guy during FA when there was whispers of this happening.

I suspect giving Randle a competitive contract is our contingency if we only sign one of PG/LeBron. As it is, I think we only get one if we get both. But admittedly, that's pure speculation on my part and I don't have anything to back that up.

And I wouldn't go anywhere near Boogie, unless there are scores of players who've rebounded from ruptured Achilles tendons and I've just been unaware of them all this time.

He dislikes "the process"....that's always a bonus to me.
He's a legit rim protector and that's exactly what this team needs. I love BLo, but this guy rebounds and is alot more defensive oriented.
He's essentially an expiring deal and helps us get out of Deng....are you guys f***ing kidding me!
He's not a plan A but a contingency and a heck of one if we just land one of Bron/PG.
He doesn't kill any 2019 free agent targets cause if he opts in to his final year, he's a valuable expiring piece when the market will finally see relief (ie contracts like Deng and the 2016 debauchery of free agency finally come off the books in 2020). However if he opts out, then hello 2019 Free agency class....and of course he's going to opt out of 27M when he can gets possibly his last massive deal being on the rightside of 30, as a rim protector in a dried out pool of that skillset.
Lastly, you got to give up talent to get talent. Deng has Miami roots in that Riles gave him a deal when Bron left. But dumping that contract needs assets and if we can keep BI, Zo, Kuz and Jules, then as much as I love Hart, that's the talent that needs to go for the deal to work.

As fun as it is to push tempo and score score score, titles are won on the defensive end. Hart is a great defensive wing, but we have that skillset covered (especially if George comes on board). With a guy like Whiteside, we finally get a legit rim protector who embraces that role. And if he's a contingency, forget about it...sign me up!

    Zo, George, BI, Jules, Hassan-chop

    or

    Zo, BI, Bron, Jules, Hassan-chop

Yall are f***ing kidding me that that's not one hell of a plan B.
