It does worry me a bit that the Lakers are evidently "enthralled" with his "star power." I mean, how much of his "star power" is manufactured by his deranged lunatic of a father? You take away LaVar, what is Lonzo at that point?

I feel bad that the perception has gotten there. Lonzo is a very exciting player.

Lonzo should be better than Rubio. He's bigger, more athletic, and of course a far, far better shooter from outside even if his shot isn't pretty. I wouldn't say he has Rubio's vision because Rubio is one of the better passers in the last decade, but Lonzo has good enough vision to be effective. The kid is a very good prospect. It's unfortunate that a good story is being overridden by talk of his dad.

We would have a distinct advantage in that regard. The "They all have to share one ball." scenario wouldn't apply to us. We'd have a pair of balls out there.

rubio was a better prospect than ball at the same age, imo.

Not entirely fair though since Rubio was playing pro ball already for 4 years at this stage, but yes he was.

Rubio just sort of tabled off when he couldn't hit an outside shot. It's made him a disappointing prospect.

Lonzo was making headlines and putting UCLA back on the map before the public knew about Lavar.

He can also shoot pretty well and he's pretty darn athletic. Not Jason Kidd or anything but given that he's 6'6, can shoot, pass, and is athletic I think that's enough raw talent to put him on an NBA team. If he works on his game he may very well become something. A good jumper, crafty passing, and athleticism is a pretty good raw package to start with.

It's unfortunate - I think Senior Ball has really sort of started to ruin Lonzo's reptuation. Sad too because they are such different personalities from what I've seen. Lonzo is humble and doesn't run his mouth, he's got manners.

Sad part is there's two more kids to go - Li'Angelo and LaMelo. All UCLA commits. LaMelo dropped 92 in a HS game this year - it wasn't as impressive as it sounds but still a feat.

there's a difference between being an nba player and being a franchise changing player. i never said i thought he'd be out of the league in three years--i said i don't see the fuss. seems like a lot of folks would trade russell for the pick that would become ball, and i don't get that.

I wouldn't trade Russell for the pick. If we don't get the pick, I'm not going to cry over it.

I would however trade Russell for George in a package. Gladly even.

me too. george is an established perennial allstar on the right side of 30. lonzo ball is an unproven prospect with a questionable physical profile.

Questionable physical profile? He'd be one of the tallest if not tallest PG in the league at 6'6". He's thin now but has the build that he will ultimately get up to 210. Think a young Scottie Pippen or Penny Hardaway. I have not seen his official wingspan but I would not be surprised to see it at 6'10"
