I'm not sure either. I think the two of them would work well together though.

I think there's some things Ball (and I suppose Fultz) will be better at and vice versa, but I think it's pretty much impossible to say he's undoubtedly better. I also think it's silly to think that just because we'd draft a guard we should trade Russell which I've seen around.

I don't really care who's a better overall player, but I definitely want a better playmaker and better decision-maker than Russell on this team, which I think Ball is.

Plot twist, he missed the dunk/lay-up.

    So no camp invite.

I'm actually convinced of the opposite. I think this is a crap draft at the top and Russell or Ingram would go #1 in it if they were coming out this year.

Me too. I've honestly been more impressed with what I saw out of some of the guys slotted later in the lottery

I don't think this is a crap draft at all. Quite the opposite actually. Most drafts have maybe 4 good players, maybe 12 total that are NBA players, and then 40+ lame ducks.

I think Fultz, Ball, Jackson, Fox, Tatum, Monk, Z. Collins, Allen, Anigbogu, Anunoby, J. Jackson, Patton, Giles, Ojeleye, Adebayo, and Dennis Smith are all NBA players of various degrees no matter what. I think Fultz, Ball, Fox, Jackson, and Tatum are definitely starters, the rest are maybe starters but at least bench guys. I think Isaac, Ntilkina, Ferguson, Kurucs, Hartenstein, and Markannen are probable NBA players with high ceilings and low floors, but definitely worth lotto picks (maybe not Ferguson). Then there's probably another dozen guys that could be NBA players if they use their heads right like Kennard, Mitchell, Rabb, Leaf, Swanigan, and Lessort.

This is a deep draft for NBA talent. The talent up top is solid. Is there a LeBron? Probably not, but there could be a bunch of Paul Georges.

yeah. don't get the infatuation with ball or this particular draft class. all this stuff about ball's court vision is the same we heard about russell. then it's what, intangibles? again, i remember 19 year old jason kidd...ball's not that guy.

edit: a bunch of paul georges?! how many paul georges has the nba seen in the past decade?

Just an example, probably a poor one, but I'm saying there'll be plenty of decent NBA players from this draft class. There's a decent chance of a handful of teams having a guy they feel they can build around.

I'd put this draft easily above 2014 and probably on par with last year's. It's certainly not a "crap draft" in my opinion.

And your dislike of Ball is already noted. :D I don't understand why you dislike him so strongly and I think you'll change that opinion eventually. Again, not saying he's better than Russell right now, but he does some things better than Russell and one of them is moving the ball both himself and fostering a culture of ball movement.

12 total NBA players per draft seems very low. I'd say it's at least twice that. Probably three times that. And I'm not speaking off the cuff. I've just looked at the past fifteen years of drafts.

Each draft may have zero, one, or maybe two or three Paul George type talents. He's really good.

I said crap draft at the top. I realize there are a lot of players who could be good, but I specifically said "at the top" because there isn't that one guy who we are confident will be a franchise player.

Oh I see. Well I still think there's a few up there that could be. That's what I meant when I said there could be a few Paul Georges. I didn't mean they'd be as good as Paul George, I meant there's a few kids who are going to be good enough that teams will say "we might be able to build around this guy". There may be no Towns or LeBron, but there could be more than one Wall or George or Butler.

wall looked way better than these guys coming out. consensus #1 for like a full calendar year. crazy athlete, great size and court sense. but i'm a wall fan.

and yes, there will be one george or butler, statistically speaking, but like george/butler, there's a chance this guy is drafted later.

I'm saying there's a better than usual chance of getting that type of player in this draft. That's all I'm saying. It's a good crop for that type of player. I don't think it's a weak draft.

truth is we never know until later. we've heard some drafts would be really strong and they weren't, and vice versa. i think all some of us are saying is that we don't understand how this draft got branded "strong".

only fultz really wowed me, and i still have some concerns over his game. from second all the way down to 9 or 10, i could make cases for lots of guys. some might call that good, but i'm not sure. when you have two starting quarterbacks, you have no starting quarterbacks, you know?

I totally understand. I don't know if there's a Towns here, but I doubt it. There will however be a number of kids that teams will consider close to franchise-worthy. I think Fox and Tatum have good chances to be "franchise" guys. I think Ball and Fultz will both be "franchise" guys. I think a couple of the Centers in this draft (Allen and Collins spring to mind) will be franchise guys down the line. Allen specifically reminds me a lot of a smaller Bynum. Dennis Smith is sort of a wild card (reminds me of Dunn from last year).

By "franchise" guy I just mean a guy that teams will have that make them think "hm... could I build around him?" instead of "no I can't build around this guy". Maybe a more fair comparison would be I think there'll be more than a couple Myles Turners and Devin Bookers as well as a couple Zach LaVines and Gary Harrises. Especially among the many, many big men coming out. I think the value in this draft is late-round big men. Lessort, Swanigan, and Adebayo will be NBA bigs either off the bench or starting.

Ball seems like Marco Rubio or Rondo with a jumper and no driving ability.

Good player, but too limited offensively. I wouldn't complain about getting him, and I think he would complement Russell very well.
