this "new old plan" is like same used car, just repainted and being sold by that flash "car saleman" instead of the old grandpa type that should've retired years ago.

Brooklyn's up to something again... They just waived Archie Goodwin which gives them one extra roster spot and 5.1M in cap space. If they renounce Randy Foye's 3M cap hold, they open up 8M in cap. Possibly gearing up for another trade? Irving is from the NY area and with Sessions to the Knicks, they probably know they're out of contention in any Irving trade.

    Also Brandon Jennings to China.

Brandon Jennings is what happens when Vander Blue gets a shot in the NBA.

Meh .... just the subversive DAR effect. Keep having to waive dudes that don't want to play with him.

Not sure it could be Irving cause I'm not sure they have anything left to offer to the Cavs, but I would love to see the Nets continue to improve. The better they do, the worse that C Bags pick is. I am hoping they sneak into the playoffs in the abysmal East. Nothing would make me happier than knowing Boston held out on Jimmy Butler for what ended up being the 15th pick in the draft.

LT & Sav: Yeah, the possibility is there for Brooklyn, but I agree its probably not for a Irving deal. The Nets have been super active in the trade market, so its a safe assumption that they waived Goodwin in advance of something that is coming down the pike.

I still think the most likeliest is Phx. You got James Jones taking over of operations there and he probably knows the ins and outs of what Kyrie and Bron went through when he was with the Cavs. Bledsoe is a Klutch agency client and is Bron's boy. The Cavs are asking for a blend of young assets and win now vets and its this asking price that makes me believe that the Lakers can be involved as a 3rd team. We have future pick that we unsuccessfully tried to deal with MozDeng earlier before we attached DLosing to Moz. We also have a plethora of young assets. I think our draft picks become available to trade after the first week of August...so there's that. Suns also want to trade for Kyrie but probably want to hold onto their young assets since they are reportedly going young. It turns into a lateral move if they trade for Kyrie and not dump their vets, but instead trade their young pieces. So I think our best bet of dumping Deng (outside of Wade for Deng) is through a Suns Irving deal. Cavs get Bledsoe, Chandler, Dudley and a future Suns pick. Suns get Kyrie, Clarkson, Deng future Lakers pick. LA gets RFA Warren, expiring deals headlined by Frye and Shump (who has a relatively cheap 10M player option for 18/19 that he might opt out of). The only cause for pause is that maybe playing with his bro Bledsoe, convinces Bron to stick back one more year with the Cavs...but he dropped his bestie Wade like it was nothing, so I'm not too concerned that he won't want to come to LA next summer. And again, everything shouldn't be about Lebron, but I'm tired of losing and I know he always wants to partner up, so if he's a sure thing, then George or another star partnering up with him in LA is all but a lock. Also Pelinka was on the Dan Patrick podcast yesterday and he repeatedly made a point that the Lakers are aiming to get the best of both worlds in that they want to create a 2 max player spot for free agency next summer, but also wants to hold onto the young core we have. So I'm pretty sure our FO wants to not only get into contention now, but also harbor in our next generation to compete in the near future. They will not sacrifice our youth for an all in win now team. Plus we already have Lopez on the roster. He's another vet that we can retain to our 2 max players next season. In that scenario, we potentially have 3 vets and 2 youngsters in our starting lineup for the 18/19 season.

    Let's get this done man.

Kyrie and Booker back court would be fire!

Only back court IMO that would be better is Steph and Klay obviously. I don't think Lillard and CJ or Wall and Beal are better.

So great to have you back posting again man. Begs a few questions:

    Is it the Lonzo effect?

Or is it the Mitch and Jim gonzo effect?

And enquiring minds want to know why when you came back, KB24 popped in to say, "a Princess sighting"?

I still don't know how we are needed in this scenario. The best player in this scenario is Kyrie. So the Cavs shouldn't be taking back any bad contracts since they are giving up the best player. They should get zero negative assets back in this trade. If anything, the bad deals they have on their books should be the first to move. With all the smoke about LBJ and PG-13, people know that 3 years from now (the first 1st rounder we can legally give up) we will likely be out of the dumpster and the pick will be pretty mediocre. We can't take back the Suns bad contracts (Chandler, Dudley, Knight) since the whole reason we are trying to dump Deng is to free up cap space for next offseason.

I want to dump Deng too, but us getting involved in this and complicating it further isn't going to happen. The most likely scenario is we will trade Clarkson for nothing to a team who can absorb him and then stretch Deng after the season.

I agree on the defense, but they'd be a tremendous offensive duo.

I'd still definitely go with them no questions asked instead of any of the other back courts I've mentioned. They are also both 25 or younger too with Booker either 21 or 22 yrs old. Kyrie could really teach Booker some things too, both great young men too with good heads on their shoulders.

I'd gladly take the problem backcourt of Kyrie + Booker. They've got Jackson to carry the defensive load on the wing. In the mean time that pair would give the entire league problems.

have to assume if Kyrie was traded to the Suns, Jackson and Bledsoe might be on their way out and maybe even others to a 3rd team possibly or part of the package to CLE.
