I think we should hold on to the exception for now. Hold on to it in case a decent player gets bought out mid-season.

Yup. Very smart IMO to try and get another come up like KcP. When's the deadline to use the exception?

Also, am I the only one that feels that Randle,Clark,2nd rounder is enough to trade Deng right now but we wait to build up their values so we don't include our 2nd AND we squeeze out a late first/2nd out of someone around the trade deadline?

Also, I also think Kuzma and Deng package could unload him as well. So we might have a few options but we're not desperate......yet.

think bout it, if Randle up's his gm, why would anyone take Deng just to get Randle? teams already know we're not going to hang onto randle. Just wait till off season and offer him a contract and not have to eat Deng terrible contract. Only motive a team would do is if they dont think they're on his radar and would sacrifice taking on deng so they can get Randles birds rights which I see a really low chance of happening

Thinking he does up his game... then they don't have to worry about another team giving him the max, maybe the team that trades for him can get an early discount and also not worry about us trying to sign and trade him in the offseason. Team can always re-flip Deng or stretch him depending on what their short term goals are.

he'd have to put up monster #'s for anyone to see the appeal of his game and sacrifice their cap for Deng.....I see Randle situation more and more like KCP situation in Det, he up his game but had a lil snag but at the same time many thought he'd get a max deal, well we all saw how that turned out.

I brought up new team could care less about Dengs last two years, or they re-flip him themselves/stretch. We could throw in picks, other cheap players. It can happen easily.

We were talking to your hypothetical that Julius improves.... this all originated that Randle and Clark, a 2nd COULD be good enough to move Deng right now; Maybe it's a different mix, but perhaps the Lakers think they could give up less by the trade deadline is my bottom line cause you don't know if Lakers could move Deng now but they think they're giving up too much.

Talent wise, I think Randle and Clarkson are appealing enough to use to dump Deng. But that's like $35 million in salary we'd be sending out. We would need to find a team with cap room to absorb that or ~$30 million in expiring contracts. Not sure how many teams out there have the expiring contracts we'd need to make something like that work

Actually Real and Sav, good call on the Cavs needing a pick. Maybe the Suns send them one, while we send our future 1st to the Suns. I know this type of deal will be helping a divisional opponent in the Suns, but after 2018 free agency, will it really make a difference? Not to mention, that Bron vs Kyrie storyline just becomes that more tasty if the Suns end up getting him.

I do disagree that a deal like this doesn't need LA, since we provide young assets that the Suns won't be getting if they leave us out of it. Not sure the Suns want to give up on Bender, so involving us, they get to keep Bender and move vets like Chandler and Dudley while still gaining a vet who plays Jackson's position/game in Deng. Suns love these combo guards cause they brought in IT before they sent him to Boston and they till have Bledsoe, Knight and Booker on the roster. With Knight out, they would love Clarkson....heck I wouldn't even really want to get rid of him, unless we had to since the guy is on a decent contract and when motivated, can really ball. But bringing in George renders him futile, so we have to move him. Plus bringing in a RFA like Warren might help in trading for Bron if we combine him with Randle. Both those guys still on their rookie contracts get paid and we gain Bron's bird rights in the process. Plus trading for Bron helps even more for us to retain Lopez or KCP.

Either way, we can tweak this type of deal so that all parties are happy, but if LA truly wants room for 2 max players next summer while still retaining Brook or KCP, they HAVE to move Deng. We need to move him if an opportunity presents itself.

Well we have seen a few reports that teams aren't that high on Randle and Clarkson. I don't think that stance will change much until they have a chance to show improvement this season

Yeah, i thought about that...could be a 3 team trade where the team that takes on Deng, gets Randle, our 2nd and the 3rd team receives Clark but they ship out two 2nds that would also go to the team receiving Julius. Endless possibilities, can always throw in another 2nd or a young player as well.

I got faith in mgmt to know what theyre doing. Russell trade happened out of nowhere, we gotta let the other teams get a lil desperate and let the storm settle a lil with FA barely coming to an end.

Please stop telling people how to post or how to react to posts. What if told you to stop posting drunk or high? I don't have the right to do that do I? If people want to post and their opinions are rosy enough for you, it's very easy to not reply or ignore it.

Did you read my posts towards him previously explaining possibly flipping Randle, etc to get rid of deng but perhaps were not desperate...then he says we were desperate for trading Russell.

Like there was no reasoning at that point and i was sensing the convo was going nowhere and he was gonna poop at anything reasonable i was saying. Which is cool, but if i cant get a Laker fan to reason with me then i wont continue the discussion.

It was a joke to go smoke somen or have a drink cause i feel hes possibly a lil on edge or still bitter about the Lakers...simply was meaning, were both Laker fans; lets have some fun and let go of the past.

Not sure why you're taking it personal..it was between me and khmrp. Were both good. Couldve PMd me instead of putting all this in the open.
