I know I read that somewhere but forgot about it. Some admission of guilt iirc.

I think Rose is getting a bad rap from the media number 1, also he's still ...when on his game one of the most dynamic point guards in the league. I watched a lot of Rose while in NY he played consistently better than even their highly touted my savior in kristaps. Yes he had a rape allegation (which he was found not liable in the gang rape) and was expunged from. The guy made a mistake just like Kobe did cheating on his wife and accused of rape. The amount of s*** that happens behind the scenes with all these NBA millionaire players is disgusting and they do this kinda s*** all the time, and it's appalling. Rose just got caught... But if we're talking strictly on his bball game the guy would be a steal of a backup pg, imagine Lonzo taking a break and Derrick freaking Rose is his backup.

Ugh..I'm kinda split on the D-Rose thing...

I didn't realize how efficient he was last year...but obviously he's not going to start for us and he's not going to play big minutes...

Or...is he? That's what kinda gives me some worry...I want Lonzo to play BIG minutes (30+ mpg)...with Rose in the picture....it kind of gives me some doubt on whether Lonzo is going to get those big minutes.

Lonzo needs a break, he gets drained quickly so having a backup that can help him out is great to have. God forbid what if Lonzo gets a bad ankle injury at least Rose can be there when we need him.

Yep. Agreed man. Rose is a good player, but this year should be all about developing Lonzo and Ingram and hopefully enticing the big fish next year along the way.

Ian Clark would be perfect because he's not been a big minute guy with the Warriors anymore and can give us 10-15 solid minutes and Lonzo would still get those 30+ minutes we'd like him to get.

Agree with everything you're saying. I really hope we get Ian Clark over D-Rose. But I can talk myself into us getting D-Rose being a good thing.

Would be funny to have D-Rose and Deng on the same team again...

Give me D-Rose. If the meeting went well it means two things: 1)they both understand he's 100% backing up Lonzo and 2)the lakers are prioritizing having open cap space for 18. He'll probably get a 1 year deal like KCP. If anyone thought Rondo could help this team, this is arguably could be just as good a signing IMO.

And I am not worried bc the lakers are SMART again! If they scouted Rose, it means Luke has a vision for him and Magic/Rob are on board with it. That is a core of decision makers I trust.

A last thought... If anyone is trying to bring down D Rose bc of his trial I have no idea how you can support this team or Kobe in the past few years. I am not condoning their actions nor am I categorizing their trials as the same. The thing is, i looked past Kobe's personal issues. I see myself as no person to pass any judgement. These are just normal a** human beings who are amazing at basketball. And I watch the basketball.

And if any of this bums you out, just remember: NFL players are a hell of a lot worse

No you are not Pops. Why I used the term "group effort" a couple times in a post yesterday in saying this is one of those kind of hypocritical moments from Rob and Magic.

It is what it is...I hope Lonzo hangs around other "vets" this season in the event Rose is signed by us...

The Lakers met with free-agent guard Ian Clark for 45 minutes on Thursday afternoon, according to a league source familiar with the situation. The Lakers have expressed interest in Clark in recent weeks for various reasons, but no offer was made.

The Lakers envision him helping the team’s outside shooting after averaging a career-high 6.8 points while shooting 48.7 percent from the field and 37.4 percent from 3-point range last season with Golden State. The Lakers view the 26-year-old Clark as a good mentor for rookie point guard Lonzo Ball after helping the Warriors win the 2017 NBA championship. After only playing four years in the NBA, Clark still could further cement his career with the Lakers should he have a productive season.

In addition to speaking with the Lakers’ front office, Clark also talked with Lakers coach Luke Walton. The two previously knew each other at Golden State.

Man wth...why was an offer not made?

Lakers better know what they're doing...only way we should be getting D-Rose is if Ian Clark turns us down.

Ian Clark is such a good fit i don't even know where to start....way better fit than Rose too and better shooter to space the floor.

Clark is the better fit by a landslide. Give me Clark and let's go!

What's the risk? 1 year backup bust.

What's the reward? Mentor for Ball, proven player, quality minutes, might get healthy and dominate, could stay long term.

    Worth the risk, IMO.

Yeah this is why I don't mind it. If he doesn't work out, cut him and bring up Ennis or Caruso.

I had already resigned myself to the idea of Ennis being our back-up because we don't need a back-up who plays a lot of minutes. But if that's the case, why not take a gamble on Rose having a resurgence and if it doesn't work out you'll still have your choice of guys like Ennis.

I have a feeling we're getting him. From what I've heard, we can offer more money than Cleveland. He seems like the kinda player who would rather enjoy a low pressure season while living in LA then ring-chasing for less money in Cleveland where you know you don't really have a chance to win a ring anyways.
