I would give up multiple picks to get a wade/deng trade premise

Don't need no steenking picks no more anyway. Roster full of young stars from current picks.

    We could do something like:
    Deng/Brewer/2020 Top 5 protected 1st/2018 2nd for Wade.
    Deng/Zubac/2018 Top 10 protected 1st/2018 2nd for Wade.
    Deng/Nance/2018 Top 10 protected 1st/2018 2nd for Wade.

Wade is expiring anyway and they get two picks out of it plus Brewer who is a decent veteran and an expiring contract. I'd like to keep Brewer around, but a 23 million dollar expiring is just so awesome sounding for the 2018 FA plan. They're a rebuilding team anyway and much like the Nets they should be taking on contracts so they can acquire picks. Deng has some history there too that should hopefully translate... Meanwhile we get a competent starting SG that, while not a perfect fit, provides gravitas to a young team.

    Ball/Ennis
    Wade/Clarkson/Hart
    Ingram/Nwaba/Kuzma?
    Randle/Nance
    Lopez/Bryant

I mean no it's not a playoff team on paper, but they'd compete every night against most teams. Then in the next summer we're looking at 46 million cleared off the books. Find a home for Clarkson and we've got a crazy amount of money to spend. Only Ball, Nwaba, Nance, Ingram, Bryant, Kuzma, and Hart on the roster leaves us with basically 33 million or so in guaranteed contracts. That'd leave us 69 million to spend. After two max deals, we'd still have a little bit to spend. We would still have the Mid-Level exception worth roughly 8 million. We could give a 3/24 million dollar deal to Lopez or something who would be taking a massive paycut, but would play with two established stars. We could then use the Bi-Annual exception of 3.29 million to sign Wade if he wanted to ring chase one more time. Otherwise, we roll with the goods.

    Ball/???
    Ingram/Wade?/Hart
    George?/Nwaba
    LeBron?/Nance/Kuzma
    Lopez?/Bryant

It's not far outside of the realm of possibility if we could dump Deng, Randle, and Clarkson without taking long-term salary back.

I think in the same way Russell was required to dump Moz, a Randle may be needed to dump Deng.

Would you do that straight up? Maybe get a Chicago 1st out of it? (which could end up in our favor the way their team would stack up).

At this stage? Yes. I'm a big fan of Randle, but the 2018 cap space is vital and I'm okay with Nance/Kuzma right now. You're right that if the trade looked like Russell's did we could maybe even pull a pick back so something like Deng/Randle for Wade/2nd (I think Randle has less value than Russell) would be solid. Hell I might do it without the pick back. The problem is Chicago drafted a guy to play PF so I'm not sure how much value they place in Randle right now unless they're not sold on Markannen as a starter.

If you ever feel upset about the inactivity of the current front office and the discipline they are using, just think of this and you'll feel better.

Not really. He's been awful the last three years. Last season he played 20 games. He'd be more like a coach than a player.

I'd be surprised if he didn't sign a minimum deal with the Spurs or something if he can.

I'm thinking this sort of deal would take place somewhere around the deadline.

So Chicago would have an idea of what Markannen is like, where they sit in the lottery, and for the Lakers to see how Randle meshes with Lonzo.

He's put in some work, so I think he'll get a shot this season to run with Zo.

You're not wrong. There's not really any urgency necessarily to get this done tomorrow. I think Randle getting a shot is very likely right now. In fact I'm not sure we make a big trade at any point before the season unless we can dump Deng. If we can dump Deng without losing a major piece I do believe the Lakers make that deal right now.

Wow that's some serious stuff Bill is smoking. Not enough for just PG and LBJ to come. F*** it .... throw in John Wall and Boogie too.

Simmons is out of his mind. :D Wall, George, LeBron, and Cousins, plus we keep Ball and Ingram. Ok, sure, we'll pull the money out of our a** and we'll play the game with 3 or 4 basketballs.

Well I mean that's absurd but I really don't just see us signing only Lebron and George. Like if the two of them are coming, it's because our team/cap room is a blank slate that they could use to build a new superteam. I wouldn't be surprised if both took significantly less than the max so we can fit in some other good players (their friends) with the rest of the cap room.

I also wouldn't be surprised if neither of them comes at all.

mgmt already offered an unprotected 1st so I dont see why we dont still put in that offer along with one if not both of those 2nds we got from chi last yr for wade/deng trade. It would be similar to what Tor gave Bk, but in our instance deng has 3yrs however since Wade is the returned player with salary it would equate to eating deng for 2yrs, just like Carrol to BK with no $ going back to Tor. Its more than fair IMO, Chi needs as much asset as they can and they probably dont want to pay Randle either when time comes

Simmons is now fishing for page views? I mean, we'd obliterate teams, but there's no way the 4 of them are taking THAT deep of a discount...especially Boogie, Wall and PG-13. They are in "Prime of our Career" contract mode.

But I'll wait for our resident optimist (*cough* therealdeal *cough*) to come in and tell us how this will go down. ;):D
