If KCP was willing to accept a one year deal then he would have signed already with the Lakers. I suspect he is holding out for the Nets to regain their cap space once Porter is officially signed and passes his physical so they can offer him a 4 year deal worth at least 60 million or more.

I could be wrong, but I just don't see KCP taking the risk of a one year deal when another team will likely offer him a much bigger contract by next week.

Yes we're getting better players. Why do you think they're keeping cap space for PG? Unfortunately it has to be planned for a year out.

You already saw how difficult it was to unload a horrible contract. Not easy to free up cap space when you need it. That's what many people don't understand. You have no leverage if you are in that position and have a ticking clock

Well Toronto just screwed our plan up big time...thought we'd have a shot at CJ Miles OR KCP...and now, it looks like BKN will zero in on KCP.

My only thought is...why hasn't this happened yet? Otto Porter contract got matched...shouldn't BKN be acting fast here?

Maybe Brooklyn has offered him a big multi-year deal and he doesn't think its enough. Since there really isn't a team who could offer a better deal, they aren't going to bid against themselves.

Toronto is just going to flame out in the playoffs like always, they didn't need to take CJ Miles. :Tabarnak:

At this point I'd take Rondo and KJ McDaniels and call it a summer. Both are above average defenders, plus I admit I wanna see a lineup of Ball, Nwaba, McDaniels, Randle and Nance on the fast break.

Sure but if Lakers signed Vince Carter or Ben McClemore for like $6-7mm. Suddenly KCP is available will you say the team was stupid for not waiting?

Magic and Pelinka have tried for Hill and Waiters but both got longer offers so it's not that the team wasn't trying

I haven't looked at the numbers but I don't think they messed it up big time. Toronto took Miles but Brooklyn also get's a wing player in Carroll. They might not be able to offer KCP more money for this year.

KD taking less may help us at the end of the day. If the Lakers ultimately need to stretch Waive Deng and only offer a $20mm max to LBJ he may very well take it. LBJ already makes another $30/40/50 off the court. Winning championships and helping a legendary franchise like the Lakers can only help his bottom line.

Hmmmm if he's bought out, we can sign him for one year and use him to recruit LeBron and with George coming?

    Ball
    PG/dwade
    Ingram
    LeBron
    Lopez

Idk the Financial aspect of this but it's fun to dream, players taking less to bring their buddies along?
