I can sense frustration in here. A lot of you are tired of the non signings of low end, overpaid players like KCP and Porter and the other 20 players getting deals they have ZERO business getting. So you sarcasm feels a little more emotional.

Guys, have you not learned from Dung and Mosdefication? Paying marginal players all this money to not win is not going to work. I would rather not win and not overpay, rather than do what they did last year in paying out near max money to two bozo's who barely are NBA players.

nobody saying sign these dudes to Moz/Deng like contract but at the same time nobody wants to see last season or the season before that repeat itself either.

nobody is saying to pay them like those 2 guys but that's exactly what's happening. we can give lowball offers all we want but when guys like Otto Porter get $26M per year for 4 years, why should we abandon all hope for 2018 when it's a marginal talent pool this year?

nobody brought up porter, there's been players we could've used thats signed 2 yrs with partial gaurantee in the 2nd yr, signings like that can happen w/o affecting 18' plan as much

Porter was simply a reference point. I'd probably be sick if the Lakers were the one's offering 70% of the contracts signed so far.

If that's the end result none of these guys are good enough to change that.

I'd rather another 50 loss season again setting up a chance to win another chip, than getting a few of the names this off season, and wallowing in mediocrity like the Clippers.

They wouldn't, but adding another capable shooter or 2 to help Lonzo and Ingram out wouldn't hurt.

And maybe we still do that...

? i don't get it. the sticking point in houston talks is nobody will take ryan anderson (hello brooklyn!) because he's a sub-average player getting paid 20 per for three more years. so we recruit another team with a bunch of sub-average players making a ton of money to facilitate?

and i haven't seen people advocating for the lakers to sign otto porter for a bazillion dollars. not a single person. people are wondering why some useful players are getting snapped up on cheap deals while we sit on hands and/or flirt with rondo. most of the suggestions i've made wouldn't do anything to the precious cap space.

Seriously. This. We COULD sign these guys. It's not like we couldn't have offered Porter the same amount or a big contract to KCP. I mean, we could have had them, but do we want them? People need to recognize that we probably need two max slots to sign George. Because I don't think George wants to come alone. There is a ton of movement to finish in the middle of the pack. I get the frustration, but we signed mediocre talent last offseason to deals that were bad. I'd rather punt every single year and wait for the kids to develop than do what we did last offseason.
