    I would throw Randle/Lou & a 1st for Drummond

    Russell
    Clarkson
    Ingram
    Larry/Black
    Drummond/Zubac

would essentially be our young core.

Make that 1st D'Angelo and I think it makes sense for both teams. I posted it in another thread.

Make that D'Angelo, Zubac and the Lakers Top 3 pick if they keep it, then I think Detroit listens.

Apparently Detroit didn't like the offers they were hearing on Drummond and as a fantasy owner of the man I can tell you: he's stopped growing. I know he's only 23 years old, but he has 100% plateaued as a player.

I'd trade Russell/Randle/Lou for Drummond absolutely. I think that's quite a lot to give up. I'm not sure what other offers they're getting, but we're giving them a proven commodity and two young bucks that for all Detroit knows are perfectly capable learners.

I would hope we could do better than Drummond for Russ, Randle, and Lou. If not, we are screwed.

While Drummond isn't a superstar and I probably don't disagree he has plateaued as a player despite his young age, his value is still high. It might not necessarily be to other teams as evidenced by the lack of compelling offers but it realistically would be to Detroit, who after locking him up to an extension should be incredibly reluctant to give him away unless an offer blew them away. Not saying I'd endorse such a trade (Russ, Randle, Lou for Drummond) but I don't know who the Lakers could get better with that particular offer. IMHO, assuming they were on the block, it's not enough to land George or Butler or Boogie. There is a dearth of truly impact players on the market and teams with stars know it and that's why Chicago/Indiana didn't trade Butler/George this past summer and why Brooklyn is asking so much for Brook Lopez.

Wonder what the minimum would be to pry Rubio from Minny.

    JC straightup?

Not sure if they are so quick to trade him. Dunn clearly hadn't worked out the way they wanted him to. Plus JC seems redundant with Lavine.

Rubio has been really good lately. 12.5ppg 3.0rpg 10.6apg 1.6spg 34.8% on threes through February, coming off also a very solid January. I agree with alam1108 that they might not be in such a rush to trade him - esp since he is locked up for 2 more years after this. If they do trade him, it's going to cost quite a bit more than JC.

Wouldn't move Russ for Drummond. Lou, Randle, and a first? I'm not sure. Agree Drummond is developed fully.

If by the word "cost", I had meant in terms of salary, then sure :p

Drummond is locked up for three more years, with a PO in the fourth. It's a huge investment. I do have some concerns about him, but he's an absolute beast on the glass, he scores effectively, and he's a good shot blocker. His defense seems to have improved dramatically over the past couple of seasons, too.

I don't like that we'd bring in a Center and lose a PF, but Deng, Black, and Nance could handle the PF duties, in my mind.

    Russell/Huertas
    Young/Clarkson
    Ingram/
    Deng/Nance/Black
    Drummond/Mozgov/Zubac

We could still try to move Calderon for a second rounder, perhaps, and Young for something. The huge problem is that we have like 68M invested in Drummond/Mozgov/Deng for next season (and increasing for the next two).

If we did that Drummond trade, we'd a) need to keep a first and b) have this many millions sunk into our roster:

    This year: 67.6
Next year: 67.9 Calderon FA, Black possibly, Nick probably
18-19: 71.9 Randle FA, Huertas FA
    19-20: 77

If the Pistons are talking Drummond with the Lakers, they are going to want Zubac. If they are trading Drummond, they'd logically want the Lakers' suddenly valuable C prospect back to potentially fill that hole. Highly doubt they turn to Aron Baynes and Boban Marjanovic and say "Ok guys, you got this!". Even more doubtful is that they'd take Moz to fill the aforementioned hole. While Randle is better than their incumbent PFs, they do have two capable players in Marcus Morris, Jon Leuer and their #18 pick this past year Ellenson in that position and all 3 are locked up for at least the next two seasons, so they'd more realistically pass on Randle and push for Russell or Ingram. Mostly due to preferring the more valued prospect. Plus incumbent starting SG Caldwell-Pope is a FA after this season. Laker fans would probably say no thank you to the idea of parting with (Russell or Ingram) + Zubac as part of a package for Drummond but looking at it objectively from the Pistons' POV, that's what I think it'd take.
