This may make me a D but I still think he's a B. Enjoy your asterisks titles in a watered down soft A league. Now go F off and continue to suck off Lacumb.

And of course Kob will come up but remember it was the FO that offered that contract prematurely. Kob didn't demand that extension.

And we wouldn't have any of the lottery picks we accumulated.

It worked out. Just because KD took a pay cut doesn't mean Kobe or anyone else should be obligated to do the same.

I think Durant has a 10 year, up to $300 million deal with Nike alone. He's not hurting for money.

Kobe could have and SHOULD have taken a KG/Dirk/Duncan discounted deal from the Lakers. When I saw us give him 25M+, I knew that was the end. I thought ok MAX we should give is 20M, with hopes of him taking a discount at 15M...but likely end up somehwere in the middle around 18M. I was SHOCKED when I saw us give him that extension. Don't care what anybody says, but Kobe never really took a paycut. And fine, that's what the market was willing to pay him...so he had no choice but to accept it. BUT...Kobe knows the salary cap. He's not stupid....we coulda opened up space to attract TWO guys to play with him...instead we only had space for one and of course nobody was willing to come to play with end of career Kobe post-achilles injury.

Anyways, happy with how it all turned out given we got all these assets NOW..but it coulda played it differently.

Back on topic....have we signed George Hill yet? Is the meeting still going? What's the hold up? Man I hope we can finally close someone. It would actually show a lot about this new regime if they got George Hill, arguably one of the top PG's on the free agent market when we began this off-season (I think he was right behind Cp3, Lowry and Holiday).

No he shouldn't have. It's easy for fans to tell players to take less money when they're not in that player's position.

Kobe poured his heart and soul into this organization for 20 years. He absolutely didn't need to take a pay cut.

Do we get the MLE in addition to having cap room? And if so, is it possible to give a 1 year MLE deal?

Ideally, we get a good back up PG and a wing 3/D (well, the best 3 and D guy available in the free agency bargain bin). Shabazz Muhammad had been an inconsistent shooter but I'd take a chance on him with a 1 year/MLE deal after signing Hill with our cap room.

Not too often you get a chance to play on a 70+ win team, which is what the Warriors will be next season if they stay healthy.

The Warriors have also got him linked up with people in Silicon Valley for investment and promotional opportunities.

I think Magic is smart enough to go that route with Silicon Valley and Hollywood. Why Not? Other teams use lack of state income tax and low cost of living. Lakers should use every advantage too. And from the pitch to PG, I think they have.

Agreed. That was all on the FO. They offered that deal before he fully recovered from the torn Achilles.

If the FO had let Kobe play and negotiated the deal at the end of the season, the contract would've been less.

Well the suitors are dwindling fast for George Hill...

I think it's basically down to us and Denver right? Who else can get Hill at this point?

Hill would be a great pick up, not expecting it to happen though. Prove me wrong Magic and Pelinka!

Let's be real....George Hill is not going to want to go to that unstable situation anytime soon. I actually think we have more to offer him than NYK.

It's really between us and Denver imo....Denver can offer him a chance to win now and be a starter while also grooming their young guard (Murray, Mudiay, Beasley, etc). Plus a lineup of Jokic, Millsap, WC, Gary Harris and George Hill with Murray off the bench? That's a playoff team easily.

We have to get George Hill before the Nuggets make space. That's how I see this.
