Highly doubt it's true but yeah I would sign off in a heartbeat. And I'm not a fan of Melo at all.

I don't want to give up on Randle this early but I'd think long and hard about that deal. What's Melo contract like anyways?

Also George Hill is still available, he might end up not getting a huge raise like he was expecting.

Melo is 26 this yr and 27 next (player opt) and probably comes with a trade kicker

    Naw, it's doable.

His last year in 2019 is a player option at almost $28mil, but if he agrees to opt out at the end of next year, and renegotiate his next contract, it's workable.

NO NO NO NO. That's how those idiots went after Mosgov and Deng. No. Lakers do not need headcases like Rondo and Waiters. Even if it's for one year. Those assclowns are terrible for a team like this.

It's not that big of a gamble since we'd be losing Deng and Randle which adds up to around 22mil.

Melo isn't waiving his no trade clause to play for the freakin Lakers. He wants to win a title. His a** is going to Cleveland. Book it.

If Melo's contract expired this summer I'd do that in a second. But I think assuming he'll just opt out of 28 mil in 2019 when there's no way he'd get that much again is risky. He re-signed with the Knicks when they were garbage because of the money. I don't think he'd opt out of the Lakers if we are bad too and lose that money, especially if he's getting divorced.

You just got rid of two clowns in swaggy and russell, why would you replace those guys with veteran clowns on a young team?

But what if Melo "knows" his buddy is coming to LA next year.

It really wouldn't be that big of a risk.

The difference between Deng+Randle's contracts compared to Mellow is only about 6 million. You can simply back load both max contracts we sign next year, to PG and whoever else, to allow for being 3 mil short on each in the first year.

I'm not saying that's what we'd do for sure, but it's a very realistic situation to be able to fit Mellow in with two max contracts, even if he doesn't opt out of that last year.

I didn't know that Melo had a player option next year. Thought he was expiring. I'd still do it though. Dont think Melo would sabotage our efforts to sign his buddy Lebron by opting in.

That wasn't the subject. The subject was if it was doable, and it's very doable.

I'm not even especially for the trade, but I bet Magic and Rob are.

With the right floor leader, Melo will adapt like he did when Billups got traded to Denver. The Nuggets were God Mode Kobe away in Game 3 of the 2009 WCF from probably winning it all that year.

I would do the trade in a heart beat.

    Lonzo
    Clarkson
    Ingram
    Melo
    Lopez

That team aint so bad. Add George to that team in a year and you are looking at a damn good team.
