I'd sign Stephenson just to watch him snap and go Spreewell on B0ron.

Also just read a bleacher report article suggesting we try and trade Hibbert to Memphis for Jeff Green and Brandan Wright. He says they need a C without Gasol now. I'd do that, but I think Memphis would laugh.

Memphis would demand one of the young three I bet. Or at least Lou Will or something.

Well they do play at a slower pace than most teams, probably slow enough for Hibbert to keep up with.

Not too upset about missing out on Harris. I didn't know he was available and on the surface Ilyasova and Jennings seems like a better haul than what we could offer. What would they do with Hibbert? Have him play 12 minutes a game behind Vucevic?

Wonder if landing Jeff Green would help us land Durant.

i view green the same way I view harris. unless you plan on moving randle, why bring in a young pf? like harris, I think jeff green can't play sf very effectively. and we've seen randle certainly can't.

as for luring Durant...Houston has harden, and I don't give them very good odds. okc has westbrook, more money, and a better overall team, and GS may find a way to get in on the bidding. that ship has sailed, imo.

if the lakers can land a guy who they might have otherwise chased in FA (like a batum, though I doubt charlotte would do it), I'm in. otherwise, I understand sitting out the trade festivities. the rest seems like deck chair shuffling.

KD doesn't want to play with Harden though. He wants to play with hard working players who produce. That's what Green is. I'm not saying it gives us a good chance of landing him, mind you. I'm just speculating.

I agree that Harris is not a full time SF. He's in the Draymond Green mold. He's good as a PF in small ball and can play SF against most. Green is another one who can - and does - play both spots. With Randle, Green, Nance, and Black, we'd have a versatile group at the 3-4-5.

Honestly, if Green doesn't make it incredibly likely that we land Durant, I stick with the cap space plan.

I think back when Green and Durant played together, they frustrated each other because they played similar positions. The Sonics couldn't figure out a way to get playing time for both so Green's minutes were erratic. I think you'd run into a similar problem at this point especially with Randle in the fold.

I was actually thinking the same thing. If Green made Durant a "likely" signing, you have to have a deal lined up to deal Randle. Green, Durant and Randle are all starters in this league. Besides, I think there is ZERO chance we get Durant this offseason. I think Durant signs a 1 + 1 deal so he and Westbrook become free agents together. Not so much as to team up somewhere else, but so Durant won't lock himself in long term to OKC with Westbrook having the ability to bolt the next season, leaving Durant by himself. If we DO get Durant somehow, it won't be until the season after next where he and Westbrook come together. That is the only scenario in which I see Durant wearing a Laker uniform.

KD and JG: They're really good friends. Durant dedicated his 2012 season to Green, even after he left the team. I think you're right that finding minutes for all those guys would be tough though.

I don't think you line up a deal to move a young, talented player on a rookie deal because you're not sure there will be enough minutes.

Oh I don't doubt they'd be friends and hey hopefully they've come to terms with the minutes situation. Now that Jeff has bounced around the league a bit, maybe he realizes his role moving forward? I'd love if he was in the fold: the more talent the better.

To me though, I'm not sure I love him a lot more than Lou. If you think Jeff gets you a shot at Durant, then I say go for it. Otherwise? I don't think it's worth it to move a guy who we like in Lou for another similar cost/effectiveness player.

i'm basing my harden/kd stuff on the constant insistence from houston (and national sportswriters) that there's a chance there and that it has to do with harden and durant's friendship.

anyway, i don't do anything trade-wise unless it's bringing me someone at a position of need (sf or c) that i think could be here a while. might as well wait for the summer, failing that.

Man, the trade deadline is always such a boring time for us. We know we aren't making any trades, we almost never do, and we if we do make any it'll be a salary dump to make us worse because we want that top 3 pick.
