I would trade the pick before wasting the number one pick on a well off man's Randy Foye.

Russel, I was in doubt, but now - after seeing more of him...

What strikes me the most is how economic he is in his movement. No ball pounding or running around without aim (at least not from what I've seen).

I mean if we end up 4th or 5th I'll take him, but I'm not going to take him before that.

Okafor is still #1 no doubt @Battle Tested20 . He's big, strong, skilled and he fits his frame extremely well. No he's not a great defender and no he's not a great vertical athlete, but everything else he brings (including his smarts) make him the easy #1 pick.

This. He's smooth! I would take him, he looks NBA-ready. Is he a good defender?

Average. Better off ball than on-ball but has the potential to be solid, IMO.

Towns was big tonight in the last 2-3 minutes...he hit the go ahead game winning jump hook sealing his defender; before that he had a huge steal in a pivotal part of the game and hit a big shot before that...so, so, talented.

The Magic play the Knicks tomorrow and I think it would be really smart to root for the Magic to win. Melo is eventually going to sit for the rest of the year and the Knicks was be atrocious when that happens.

Meanwhile if the Magic win it puts even more distance between us and them which I feel is the only team that could catch us who is currently better right now record wise.

We're finishing in the top 3 at the very least; so, at worst, we'll have a 96% chance at keeping our pick. Top 2 is the sweet spot, though. That should be our goal.

I looked at our remaining schedule and I think we will still win 8-10 more games. Call me crazy but just think within the last week or so how many games we have played that went down to the wire or into OT and we just managed to lose. Very lucky that happened.

10 at the very most puts us at 23 wins and the very least is 21; before the game, Byron said he would start this lineup at least 7-12 more games, and he also has a tendency of finishing with this lineup minus 1 or 2 players. I say we finish we 20 wins and a top 2 spot guaranteeing our top 5 selection heading into June.

I think we have a very, very good chance of landing in the top 2. I mean, losing at home against Denver? We aren't going to win many games for the rest of the season if that is any indicator. People here are saying we're going to win 10 more games? Out of 29? No chance in my opinion. More like 5-7 max. What teams do you realistically think we are going to beat? This team is built to lose right now. Only New York is truly worse than us if they lose Carmelo.

The week coming back from the All-star break we play BOS, UTA, and MIL. I think we will definitely win one of those games maybe 2.

In March I think we could beat the Nets, the Jazz, and the Knicks who we play twice.

In April I could see us winning 3 games. Games against the Nuggets and two games against the Kings are all winnable.

What I just outlined is very optimistic, you just know some of these better teams we play in the remaining 30 games we have left is going to look down on us and we're going to beat them (ex: Bulls) from a week or so ago.

I am not sure how guys can overlook Okafor's lack of athleticism but focus on Russell's.

Guess we will all have to just disagree on this one. When I watch Russell I see a Jason Kidd who can actually shoot. He is athletic enough and I don't see him having trouble getting his shots at the nba level.

The biggest thing that seems to be overlooked here is his ability to actually dominate a game in several different aspects from scoring to passing to rebounding. I love college hoops and watch it pretty regularly. I am just not seeing any of the other guys truly take over and dominate a game the way Russell does. And this isn't just one of those guys running around chunking up threes and putting up big stats against bad teams.

We will see what happens with Mudiay and some of the other folks in the draft, but I have zero doubts that Russell is the real deal.

You guys couldn't be comparing Russell to Randy Foye? Foye was an undersized SG. He was not as tall, not as good a shooter and not even close to the passer Russell is.

LOL. I asked to make sure that's who they were referring, too. It's all good. Everybody has their own opinions of who and why we should select; I'll say this much...outside of this forum, the consensus is pretty much the same about Russell from everywhere you hear about him. In about 2-3 years, this version of Randy Foye will be pretty good.
