That would be highway robbery for the C's.

I didn't say that you needed explosiveness to be a great PG. I was saying Russell had athleticism, but it's not as explosive as Westbrooks.

Sure would like to be a fly on the wall listening to Mitch, Ryan West, and Jesse Buss discussing these players and what they saw in workouts and interviews. 4pm tomorrow can't come any sooner,or July 1st

Curry is more of a pure shooter and passes more and likes to live out on the perimeter. I've never seen him truly post up or do very many fadeaways like Russell and Kobe can. If anything, Russell is more Penny Hardaway. But I digress...

Towns has size. You can't teach size. Combined with the type of skills he has is quite rare for a big. Teams are scrambling for players like DeAndre and Chandler, where Towns already has more skills than these guys. He's young and has plenty of room to grow.

Didn't mean to come across like that. Just saying athletism isn't that important as a PG anyways.

Pretty much emphasizes my point. He has more skills but none that matches Jordan's and Chandler's. And rare does not necessarily mean good in this case. It means unknown.

Caught the tail end of some draft talk on the radio, not sure who it was, only able to listen for a minute. But they said Boston wants to leap NYC for the 3rd in case Okafor drops. That's why they're talking to Philly.

Makes me feel even better about the fact that they passed up on Randle last year. One year down and they're already willing to sell on Smart for a chance at another prospect.

Oh man this feels so good. We're getting something the C-bags would blow up their team for. Ultimate tasteful doom. Please call the Lakers too if you want Okafor and Mitch would bust out his evil laugh.

If Okafor can get his FT% up...watch out.

You can bet on one thing. If one of the NBA's worst FT shooters wears a Lakers uni, there's no way Silver/owners get rid of that "Shaq rule" :giggle:

To get away from the #2 pick for a minute- Here's a workout from Norman Powell out of UCLA. He's one of the few #27/#34 type guys that we've had in for two workouts. Draftexpress has him at #50 and nbadraft.net has him up at #32 to Houston.

I like Powell. I've watched him during the season on multiple occasions.

5 teams looked into the character of curry and found it not impressive enough to draft. i don't understand the curry narrative as it applies to russell. curry DID have an elite skill, he was projected as a possible bust, and his insane level of improvement since he entered the league is entirely anomalous. at the time of his draft, he was viewed very differently than russell is now.

if i'm going to invoke curry for a guy in this draft, it would be joe young, not russell. people think he can't succeed at the next level because he's an undersized 2 (weak ballhandler, not a super athlete for his size, but can really shoot and score in general).

if i was going to pick a previous draft analog to russell, it might be deron williams, who played in a high profile program and was rated highly because he was a big pg who could shoot, but had questions about his athleticism.

in that same draft, andrew bynum was heavy-footed, pudgy, and couldn't shoot.
