I could be wrong but if we waive his option we lose his bird rights.

Coward is the worst radio personality out there right now. How that moron got a national job, I have no idea. I'll never forget when he had Jeanie Buss on. He talked **** about her until she came on, then he was nothing but friendly. Then as soon as she hung up he started bashing on her again.

    He's a poor man's Skip Bayless.

Hey, Okafor, you almost got traded before you were ever even drafted. How do you feel?:rofl::rofl:

I'm with ya. Some other good players besides those 3, but we have the 2nd pick. No reason to get cute. Make the smart (obvious) pick. It's not difficult.

So if we draft Okafor, will the Cousins trade likely die with it? Don't want to have to wait all summer to see if we trade him...

If the trade is on it likely happens during the draft, which means we could see Okafor get selected, put on a Lakers cap, and then have his hopes and dreams crushed on live TV.

Damn, was so excited for this draft now it has me worried. Gotta trust Mitch that he won't fall for a deal that gives us our young guys too.

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – D'Angelo Russell hasn't pursued the stature of the No. 2 pick in the NBA draft on Thursday night, as much as he's pursued its possessor: the Los Angeles Lakers. The stage, the burden, the long, long point guard shadow of the incomparable Magic Johnson, Russell has relentlessly chased it all. D'Angelo Russell has made his case.

He was talking inside in a suburban Southern California restaurant recently, awaiting his trip to New York for Thursday night's draft, and slowly, surely Russell has made the Lakers think longer and harder about his candidacy. Once, everyone was so confident Duke center Jahlil Okafor was the Lakers' easy choice, with Kentucky's Karl Towns fastened to Minnesota's No. 1 overall pick.

Only now, on the cusp of the draft, Russell keeps coming. He is a spectacular 6-foot-5 freshman out of Ohio State with a gift to accurately deliver passes at the most improbable of angles, to the most darting of targets. He comes with a developing jumper and a Showtime point guard presence that washes over him. As much as anything, Russell is a fascinating blend of confidence and cockiness harnessed within an understanding of how you heed the expertise and cull the lessons of those before you.

Great article for all my fellow Russell lovers!!!

I could totally see Stein being a total star. I think he's going to really surprise people how underrated he is on the offensive end of the floor.

I think GM's and scouts and teams start to overthink things, what's the phrase I'm looking for, outthink themselves? Okafor coming into the college season was the #1 guy. He put up some really nice stats all season, his team got to the championship game, he made some key plays at the very end and they won. How does your draft stock drop after all that? Because of a combine with measurements and a bunch of weird drills? I see Towns' potential, but I don't see that he's made this huge leap over Okafor, it's a toss up between them to me, maybe the only factor being best fit and the style of ball your team plays.

i dont see why we would draft another big if we trade for cousins

doesnt it make sense to draft a sf or even a pg and have clarkson slide to sg when kobe retires?

    ive seen myles turner/cauley-stein

am i missing something? we have randle

As if I couldn't decide between KAT and Okafor, I finally got around to watching highlights of D'Angelo Russell, and now I can't decide between Okafor and Russell...

Russell reminds me a lot of Kobe. The hesitation dribbles, splitting the defenders, pulling up for an unexpected 3, using his length to reach for layups, the fadeaways, the lightning quick precision passes... Wow. Not saying he will be as good or anything, but the resemblance is there. Except his shot release is much quicker.

Man, with all these freshmen projected as top picks, it's almost impossible to know who will pan out. :worried:

IF we traded our pick for cousins i'd like for russell to fall to #6 for us. i think hes gonna be a very good player but if it were between him and okafor i'd pick okafor. his game has a few holes (questionable D & FT %) but its something that can be fixed imo

his offensive game is elite and imo will translate to the nba very well. his footwork is light years ahead of dwight howard and dwight has been in the league for a decade and made it to the finals.

Kobe? Come on man. Not even close. Kobe had explosive athlecism and great size for a SG, both in which gave him an advantage offensively. Kobe would posterize you or overpower you in the post. Russell's game is predicated on his ability to create space with his handling and quick release, much ado the Curry comparisons. Kobe would just flat out take a shot over you because he knew he could. He didn't need much space to finish and would do it with ease.
