C'mon Hinkie, get desperate & sacrifice everything you have to move up 1 spot for Towns/Okafor. I'll take #3, Embiid, a few of those 2nd rounders, & our 2016 1st rounder back.

I just can't see them passing on a guard.

I actually saw an interesting comparison for Porzingis earlier today: taller Danilo Gallinari. It's not spot on, but it's probably the closest realistic comparison I've seen thus far.

I would now be very leery of Embiid.

I liked his interview. He's a mature kid who knows what the knock on his game that everything keeps saying. I think he'll be a great player one day, but as many have said he needs 3-4 years before anybody will know for sure.

I will repeat: no on Porzingis. Fools gold. You've got Towns or Okafor on the board. No need to get fancy with e pie in the sky hope and dream that this kid works out.

Also no to Embiid. I loved watching him in college but if he's had a setback it'd take at least a first just for me to take on his contract.

All I'm saying is that I wouldn't be dramatically upset if the fo pick porzingis. Honestly I trust their judgement over everyone here bc they get to first hand interact with these prospects. I personally want Okafor more than anyone bc he's a winner that has nba ready fundamentals for a big man, reminds me of Tim Duncan. The reason I say porzingis reminds me offensively of Anthony Davis is because of his hight, frail body and perfect stroke. Defensively no one is like Davis except Davis.

Everyone of us is gonna have a different opinion

I say we cant go wrong with whoever is Left of okafor/towns

People are all of a sudden enamored with porzingis but he's a project player. Is he a bust? No but he wont come in day 1 and be ready to chip in, and were the lakers we very rarely develop players.

Perfect example marc gasol. I think we drafted him with the #48 overall pick. If we would not have traded him he would prob be with us right now but would we have won the championship? Prob not.

I like both towns and okafor but im leaning more towards okafor because imo he is ready to chip in on day 1. He may not reach his ceiling until he gets a few years under his belt but he will be able to help us instantly

I read these two articles (Part One and Part Two). I have to say they took the air out of my sails a bit, but it's important that we be realistic in terms of expectations.

In the Randle thread I said we should HOPE Randle will post numbers like Boozer (I stand by it). I was flamed. This article suggests that Okafor might be "as bad as" (that's not exactly the way the author says it) Al Jefferson. Jefferson is a career 17/9 player on 50% shooting, a top 50 PER in his career, and I think we'd be happy with that.

Was looking at more Okafor footage. Saw a bit of Bynum in the post, so I decided to check my stats.

Scoring Efficiency (among all the prospects whose numbers I've run):
    Okafor 6.48
    A. Williams 6.33
    J. Smith 6.32
    Hunter 6.32
    Rice 6.30
    Russell 6.30
    McCarron 6.26
    Tuttle 6.25
    Mudiay 6.20
    Christmas 6.15
    Towns 6.10
    Walker 6.06
    Wells 6.01

my only concern with okafor is that he's not quite as tall as I want him to be. the current nba player that I would want him to be like would be marc gasol, but marc's huge. if okafor's only 6'10" or so, then al Jefferson is the comp. those couple inches matter, in other words.

@abeer3 to be fair, he's taller than Towns when they were standing next to one another and he claims that he's still growing.
