The latest in the series. Again a good read.

Making the case for being the No. 1 pick: Emmanuel Mudiay

Mitch did say it's tough to get a lot from these workouts because per the agents requests they won't workout against another player. It's a little easier with bigs because you can throw Madsen against them and he can hold his own (having to go against him and what he was in for surprised Jah a bit). You can see how they operate in the post and pass out of it, make reads, etc. But with guards you can't tell how they can run a play or the offense.

They're comfortable with what they've seen on Okafor though because they scouted him 16-18 times during the season.

That's a pretty good worst case scenario.

Serena and Pincus both have been using it.

There's a couple other interesting comparisons. The coach seems to think Mudiay and Winslow have fairly low floors. The coach also said that Russell's worst case scenario was Lou Williams. Lou is great, but that's not a great comparison for a guy we'd pick at #2.

i'm not the world's biggest russell fan, but lou williams is too low, i think. maybe he meant in terms of role/impact (high scoring, ball-handling sixth man)?

We were the first workout for Okafor, Mudiay, and Russell (I believe). So when Mitch says they've been unable to get Towns in for a workout I counter with what the f*** do you mean? This is an honor and a privilege, Lakers aren't in this position very often. Historically while teams like Minny and Philly camp out in the lottery, Lakers are hoisting up trophies and banners. Other guys only had to be asked once and we were their first stop. That shows me where their priorities lie. We have to fight and beg to get you in for a workout? No, f*** that. Enjoy Minny, Towns.

Lou Williams is a really solid player and I can kind of see where he's coming from. Not quite athletic enough to get open consistently, but a really good shooter with good PG abilities. Lou Williams isn't bad at all.

And that's his absolute floor. That's as bad as this coach thinks this kid might be.

Yeah I'm not sure what game Towns' agent is playing? Among the bottom teams, we are undoubtedly the premiere location. Every agent with a player in the Top 5 wants to go either #2 or #4 before any other teams. Given that NY is a freakshow and LA has the #2 pick, agents want their guys here.

So what is Towns' guy up to? The only thing I can think of is that he wanted Towns to be last to leave a fresher impression? I have no idea. Maybe he's the only guy that doesn't want LA in this draft class. Or maybe it's that important to him to be drafted first, I don't know.

Either way it's not a good look.

Stop it! These quotes are getting me way too excited. I don't want to be bummed out if Minny picks him no. 1. I really, really want Okafor at this point. Towns is a great consolation prize, but Okafor is the pick I want.

Yeah, I'm not understanding why they are making it so difficult to schedule a workout with Towns. I mean, what else is he doing that is more important? Don't like that at all.

I looked at DE and they have us with Hernangomez and Rakeem Christmas with our picks???? And that is with Wright and some other interesting players on still on board. Why do we draft 3 PF-C?
