I think you're right on with what the Lakers are thinking. They're not just looking at the 2nd round they're delving for talent. They're swimming in the 2nd round prospects. JP Tokoto and Rakeem Christmas are the only ones within sniffing distance of #34 where the Lakers are picking. The rest of the guys they've worked out are either projected in the 1st round or so late in the 2nd they might not get drafted.

Tyler Harvey, Dakari Johnson, George De Paula, Cliff Alexander, and Alpha Kaba are all projected in the 40 range. Anthony Brown and Joseph Young are projected in the 50s. DraftExpress has Tyler Harvey and Alan Williams projected as the last two picks in the draft. I think Mitch & Co. are looking for guys that might be able to contribute right away and might be available on "buyable" picks.

Holmes seems like an interesting prospect - Junior who developed his game over the past couple years. Good frame at 6'10 and a good all around game on both ends of the floor. Sounds like an Ed Davis type of guy.

Didn't really garner much from him outside of being a volume scorer with a decent offensive repertoire, who isn't all that efficient.

Am I the only one who likes nearly all the bigs we've brought in more than Sacre? A lot of them have interviewed well and have intriguing video on them. Not that I hate Sacre, but he has reached his ceiling and is what he is. A bunch of these 2nd round bigs look interesting/promising. I think several of them could potentially be a 3rd string C.

A couple more quotes from Ford's chat...

Would you be willing to move any assets with the #2 to get the #1? I wouldn't. They're very different players, but I feel like there isn't a big enough gap in talent with either big to warrant giving up player/pick to get the other guy. Factor in how empty our roster is, we can't afford to lose any of the pieces we've got...except Hill or maybe Young.

The big board is smarter than you Mr. Ford, Oubre is 6th as far as wings go. Certainly not 3rd. RJ Hunter over Stanley Johnson, have you lost your f***ing mind?! He loses more credibility the more he speaks.

2nd + 34th for the 1st? If Mitch REALLY had Okafor or Towns in his crosshairs, I'm sure he'd do it.

This is roughly the 3rd time this rumor has been put out there so far and I'm sure it'll be put out there another dozen times between now and the draft. I call b******* though. I get due diligence, but him going before BOTH bigs...

    http://www.nbadraft.net/extended-nba-mock-draft-50-0

I don't like their mocks compared to the other mainstream ones, but they typically have more written up about players + NBA comparisons. They dropped a new extended one today. They have us taking Jah and Norman Powell.

I know some have put him in their projected depth chart and some mocks have us taking him. Might not get the chance.

Thank you Jesus! If we draft Jah, I'll be afraid we'll get stuck with this bum until I see him get snagged before 27.

    Video interviews:

    Rashad Vaughn: http://www.nba.com/lakers/video/teams/lakers/2015/06/03/150603Vaughnmov-3612902

Vaughn's on the court performance must be the reason he's rising, because it's not from his interview game. Rough.

    Aaron Thomas: http://www.nba.com/lakers/video/teams/lakers/2015/06/03/150603Thomasmov-3612917

I like hearing we had the most competitive workout out of the teams he's worked out for so far. That's what I expect out of LA. Best way to find who we want. Doesn't have to be the toughest (Suns, Cs) because you're not going to learn a lot about a guy from sprints. You're going to learn about him and whether he has a competitive nature by throwing him in there and seeing if he'll get after it.

    Richaun Holmes: http://www.nba.com/lakers/video/teams/lakers/2015/06/03/150603Holmesmov-3612925

    Chris Walker: http://www.nba.com/lakers/video/teams/lakers/2015/06/03/150603Walkermov-3612952

Who gets the Kenyon Martin tattoo and why? I forgot all about this guy, there was significant hype about him coming out of HS. Followed by a very forgettable stint at Florida.

Also it seems like we're bringing in a lot of defensive oriented guys for the 27/34 pick and potential 2nd round purchases/undrafted.

I was actually really impressed with Stainbrook's game in the tourney. He looked like he wouldn't be good, but boy was I wrong. The big dude can play. He had real skills - just doesn't look like he could.
